It wouldn't be $400 for the video card... Do you know anything about hardware prices right now?

If I bought a new computer, it wouldn't be something cheap that I'd just have to replace again. I'd want it to (ideally) last as long as this one has, if not longer. Not realistic seeing the pace the technology is moving at, but still. I don't want a tinker toy. The hardware you posted all sucks.
What? When did I say anything about a $400 video card?

I actually do know quite a bit about computer hardware since I plan on building another computer within a month, so I have been doing nothing but reading up on tech hardware. I read tech sites literally every day. I have no idea why you would pick higher end parts when you are concerned with money. Yes, you can go all out and buy a computer for almost $1,000, but why not be reasonable and take into account your current financial situation? You seem to be happy with the performance of your current rig, so why go big? It seems like a cheap ploy to further your point.

That's where. Also, I'm not planning on buying a new computer, that was the whole point of this thread. I was saying that if I was going to, I wouldn't buy a piece of **** like what you posted.

Guess you didn't read everything...

There's no way a 10.5" card is fitting in this case either.
A 10.5" card Spunky? You plan on buying a $400 video card for this new computer? Be realistic.
My point was, you would have to spend upwards of $400 to get a 10.5" video card (Radeon 5870) that you complained that you wouldn't be able to fit into your case.

Wow, I left out "be realistic" from your quote. That changes absolutely nothing.

The Geforce 9800 GTX+ I posted is a 10.5" card, and costs about 2/7 what a Radeon 5870 costs. Most cards NVIDIA has put out since the 8800 GTX have been 10.5" cards. Do you even read the physical specifications?

You should relax a little. No need to get defensive.

Yes, you can buy a 10.5" card for $130, or you could buy a much smaller and as good or better card like a 4770 (~$115).

I like NVIDIA better. They're the standard and most games are developed with NVIDIA cards. We're getting way off topic now. x_x

NVidia is definately a bit more reliable right now. ATI is getting better recently. Still, like I said, you should consider fixing up a few components. Even thought it's going to need to be completely replaced in short order, if you're not willing to buy an entirely new computer now or any time in the near future.

My CPU is the same as Karrde's T7700, except I have the T7300 which is clocked at 2.0ghz. Other than that, they are exactly the same.

come on guys....

SSE2 was introduced in 2001 together with Pentium 4 by Nvidia. Which means 9 YEARS AGO. Which means your CPU must be older then 9 years now. You definitly should get a new one

Even if you're happy with what you have now? Only for ESF?

You shouldn't try to convince people without SSE2 to get it so you could use it for ESF (or you'll use it anyway, dunno).
Isn't there a possibility for SSE and SSE2 setting in options? Like if you have no SSE2 - remove some stuff that required it from the game but still leave person with the ability to play.

Even if you don't care about playing a game on low settings, I highly recommend that those with older computers upgrade their hardware. Not just for ESF, but for other games. Every year the requirements are getting higher and higher, eventually you'll be left in the dust with your older computer, unable to play a new game on the lowest settings possible.

So you're telling me to not reply to posts that don't make any sense. Why would you make a post that doesn't make any sense in the first place?
