Luk at the posts on this forum, 1 of them is a sticky wich tells u about the CSgirl tutorial.
Some helpful tools are Milkshape 3d and Lith Unwrap.

First off what sort of program are going to try and use?
3DS Max?
Milkshape?
Either one we have tutorials and help in the stickies in this section, read and learn the ways of modeling.
