I donno personally i prefer an ESF version which gets updated on a reg basis with fixes for bugs, hacks etc. These versions that come out every couple of months seriously take a long time, shouldnt security and stability come firstb efore features?
Is the next version of ESF going to be on steam so you can send out updates? The next version of NS 2.1 is going to be on steam :)

Also, can you guys make craters for when meleed or thrown into the wall or
ground. I don't mean actual dents. I mean a sprite replacing the normal

do you mean texture map swapping? so it looks like your injured without replacing the whole model?

I prefer a lot of things too, doesn't mean I always get them ^_^
But on a serious note... I dunno, I would have liked to release a bug fix for beta 1.1, but yaknow, stuff happens, we were just too far into the beta 1.2 code (since we started it about a month before 1.1 release), and we didn't feel like managing 2 source codes.
For beta 1.3 though I would like to release some bug fixes...
With the steam thing, not anyone can just go on steam and distribute their mod, valve needs to sponsor you/like you/something, I dunno... But it's basically it's for those rediculously popular mods :)

I kinda like the melee right now...
when you swoop.. you can change directions right away to avoid crap coming at you.. you can either 1.1 melee someone or advance melee them.. really awsome.

so change directions in swoop is very helpfull and makes the gameplay fricken fast

Is it possible to change the decals for ESF? Like you could make different decals for different attacks (one for beams, one for melee). That could be a good easy place holder until 1.3. Although I have never done anything like this, so tell me if I am wrong...

I don't really care about decals, i just use the big blue guys foot step decals for melee.. gargantua.. or something like that, lol.

I love the idea of double tap swoop, In fact after playing budokai on the PS2 I was going to suggest it until I saw this, anyway, great idea, you should definatley keep it.

its a pity because steam is good, auto updating and all that is very nice, the only thing i miss is the actual patches and exe files etc. i would of liked for esf patches released to fix bugs etc. Cant most of the bugs/exploits esf has at the moment be fixed from the server side? i havent played esf in months, i just load it up and after a min or two it all closes, gr00v tells me its sum resolution bug!

Well decals can be editted right? Someone just changes the gargantua or whatever the name is to make it look more like melee. I should try that sometime...

This melee system sounds so fricken awsome!!! My friends and I think we should make a Melee video when 1.2 comes out because if we do the right moves, it'll look just like Matrix Revolutions. Yea, you guys should defidentally release a vid soon of this suff, I can hardly wait to really see what you guys are talking about. Good job PcJoe.

i think that it shouldn't be double tap swooping.. instead double tap should just be a quick dodge... just have swoop as a seperate button

Not that anyone cares, but my vote would be for the whole choke/hold idea that was brought up. That shouldn't be the only thing that you can do but I thihnk it would be great for it to be a choice. Best part of all it adds TEAMWORK!!!!!!! (remember, this is the only thing in my mind that is missing from ESF) Imagine... you hold a player and your teammate comes to help you out and get a few punches in... visa versa, you're being held, and your teammate comes and beats the guy that's holding you. Best part is both people are vulnerable when this would happen, giving an advantage to only someone that has good teammwork with their buddies. Excellent idea.

ESF aint about teamwork, even when pitted against an enemy 10000000000x more powerful, the Z fighters always went it alone...so errrr.yeah, teamwork? no1 cares.

That's my point...... It's not about teamwork at the moment. I'm sure the ESF team wants to add an aspect of teamwork into it though. I could be wrong they may not want to, but if they did, that one change would add enough to satisfy me and and most likely anyone who wants to see more teamplay.

You're wrong about the Z fighters going at it alone, there were tons of times when the Z fighters used teamwork. Let me list you some examples.

#1. They used teamwork against they're very first enemy in the Z series, Raditz. Goku held him while piccolo peirced him with his special beam cannon.
#2. Another example; The plan Piccolo came up with for Nappa. He would grab his tail while krillin would nail him, and gohan was supposed to blast him or hit him, but he choked.
#3. When gohan and krillen both went after Goldo(sp?) when they were fighting the Ginyu force. They failed but it was an attempt.
#4.I'm sure there was an attempt at teamwork against frieza allthough i can't really think of an exact moment.
#5.Vegeta saved goku from android 19 while he was being held/drained, piccolo also attempted to.
#5.Tons of teamwork was used against Buu between vegeta and Goku.
#6 Vegeta was temporarily saved by his son and goten from Buu, while wrapped up in Buu's body part.
#7.Gohan was being held by Babadi's two henchmen so that they could drain him of his energy to awaken Buu.

I could list more, but that's more than enough to prove you wrong.
