That's a matter of opinion.

B3's A.I. wasn't nearly as annoying, and offered an actual challenge.

Sure, it spammed Dragon Rush like crazy (and probably cheated most of the time), but at least it never stayed put at the edge of the map, spamming Ki blasts like crazy. -_-

Plus, B3 had greater variety in attacks, and the attacks weren't nearly as often copied as in Tenkaichi.

Tenkaichi grew boring for me after a few days, while I still very much enjoy playing B3, because of the nicer graphics (aura, attacks) and the (IMO) better characters and melee.

I think it'll be awesome. I'm getting it for sure. It will be my 15th or 16th DBZ game. I have the first tenkaichi and I love playing it. But I recently discovered that I lost it... I hope the maps are bigger on this one.

there isnt a wide array of attacks in either game.

its still a beam spamming contest in either one. ki blasts just look cooler in tenkaichi

It's a lot easier to dodge or counter ki attacks in Budokai 3, and they did much less damage. A Kamehameha in Tenkaichi takes off a third of your life, in Budokai 3 it took off about half a bar, of which you have 3 or more.

I really felt Tenkaichi had poor fighting mechanics (not good for a fighting game) and all the energy attacks were overpowered killing machines. The balance between melee and energy attacks was incrediably unbalanced compared to B3's. B3 makes for a decent fighting game whereas Tenkaichi seemed more of a large amalgamation of content that heavily lacked variation. Hopefully Spike have picked up on this.

Maybe we should all emial them or at least direct them to these forums so they know what people want, and how many people would be pissed if they failed.

I just realized something...

It isn't taking them very long to make these games. I was on these forums when we saw the first Japanese magazine shots of Tenkaichi, and here we are again, looking at the sequel.

You know, you are very correct on this. So does that mean they are using the same models as before, just tweaking them a bit or are they cutting corners and actually making the games worse and worse cause they know people will still buy them.

The engine etc is already created they are more then likely tweaking it, shining the character design, making the arenas bigger, adding more arenas, hoping to god to give bigger beams etc.

The engine is already done they are just building around it, so not much they would really have to work on to tell ya the truth, tho i am curious to see what tag team is like.

None of you seem to have responded to what I originally said. How will this be played on the Revolution, exactly? The PS2 controller made use of every button, including clicking in the analog sticks--the Revolution has many less buttons, and how exactly is it's gyroscopic input going to help the game? Rush forward by pointing up? :p
Beat up ups with the Revolution controler. Thrusting the controler in mid-air? lol, I'm sure they'll tell us before October.

THANK YOU! EXACTLY! Also, to add to that list, there is also the fact how much excitement Tenkaichi fails to show. For instance, when Goku does Warp Kamehamaha, everytime he punches the opponent for the attack, it uses the same small sounding punch. Then, when he fires the blast, he doesn't even say the full name, he just says "Ha!". Your reasons and my reasons that I've posted are all reasons why I don't like Tenkaichi. Budokai 3 had a lot of effort and time put into it, Tenkaichi was rushed and made laziley.

Yall acting acting like Tenkaichi has been the worst Dragonball Z game for the PS2...May I remind you about the game Dragonball Z Sagas?

There is no logical way that spike should overlook the most obvious of problems. I mean, it has to be more than beefed up graphics and new characters...

What ?... hold on...Dimps took 3 attempts just to get a slightly satisfying product-- and because BT wasn't made as good as B3, it was rushed and created laziley(<-- If that's even a word) lazily ? Im all for some of your views, but i think it's obvious that this game was much more then rushed product, that was made lazily to rip off people. The fighting mechanics aren't even that horrible compared to B3's (Which people suddenly think is godly) it's just wasn't executed as well as it could of been. But it's a first attempt at trying something other then your typical, overdone, sidescreen view style, anime brawler. So it was rather expected for the most part. But i think your coming down alittle bit to hard on the game. The fact, that's its even comparable to B3, is quite an achievement alone, in my opinion.

Sagas was actually awesome. Maybe it's not all that great in 1P but with a friend in Co-op its pretty ****ing sweet. I had a blast replaying it with one of my friends. If there was another sagas game with more stuff I'd get it.

I also read that the story mode will 'Span all of Dragon Ball, Z and GT', but most DBZ games say that and fail to deliver so it's probably BS.
It'll probably be more recycled voice acting, only since there's SO much like in B3, it'll probably be pictures of the characters as they talk with big word bubbles since they only took a year to develop the game.

We're not getting Budokai 1 cutscenes ever again. EVER again. *sigh*

i can remember a number of times where goku doesnt actually say "kamehameha" in the series and still performs the attack, akira toriyama said himself he didnt like the naming of attacks during a fight, because they're "cheesy", he thought that sometimes interupting the fight with something like "kamehameha" ruins the pace/scene, they were included because otherwise some fans wouldnt pick up on their signature moves, this was recommended by shonen jump editors. Thats besides the point though, change to the jap sounds... evoila, better voice acting D:

Is there any point quoting somebody who starts their statement with "thats a matter of opinion" to try and sway a discussion? Okay, you might not be excited playing the quite repetative exploitive computer, but when i play it with my friends (who immensly dislike dragonball z before you asume that much) Its a lot of fun, I've explained my reasons, and i stand by them. No two player game i've ever played has been as intense as the fights i've had in tenkaichi. Oh and btw, you're assumption on different directions produce only different end hits is incorrect, after the initial 3 hits (with most characters) the combo changes accordingly, so you can detect the side the end hit will come from, this can be handy because you can hold 1 direction to combo, then hold down another for the hard hit making it harder for them to judge how to block.

I liked how they included the Jap. voices in Tenkaichi, but without the Jap. soundtrack, it was a bit lacking. The two had to be mixed, or with no music. Strange effect.

thank you dollar man :D

edit

and no, more than the direction they fly when you hit them changes when you hold the directional buttons.

and if you havent noticed ss4 goku / gogeta / whatever still takes a ****load of hp in budokai 3 too.

teleporting, and slamming an enemy far across the map made tenkaichi alot better

Well it's about that time people-- That's right, Pre-E3 videos. And i have to say, im both impressed and yet-- slightly disappointed. But other then that, it looks and sound great. But im sure most people will probably disappointed.

Information

http://ps2.ign.com/articles/703/703921p1.html

While some of the past DBZ games had stories that simply worked as slideshows between fights, Tenkaichi 2 features a full adventure aspect where players take control of a character and navigate him around the world, talking to folks, exploring vast areas and so forth between each of the battles.
-- What got me excited the most, was reading what i quoted above, from the preview.

The videos were nice. The maps looked a little bigger and they were better looking too. Also I like the fact that you can trans in this one instead of transes being different characters.
