1.3 Tien Modelling Contest

hey guys ... u know, 1.3 probably isnt gonna be out for about a year (bout the time it took for 1.1 - 1.2), and i agree with Angry Karrot how it would be wierd to see his clothes completely change.. but, how bout an animation of him taking off X to get to Y? or is it 2 much work?

Way too much work and way to many polys, not to mention you have the whole thing about if thats the case then where do the clothes he took off go? it's better if liek an aura surrounds him and the clothes are gone

I was making a ref for a friend for this contest.

He decided not to enter after all, so here is a front ref of Tien.(Yes I know I didn't finish the arms and feet)

great ref devion!!! and about the clothes jsut flying off screen that would look good for the play but people watching will be liek wtf how did they jsut dissapear XD. I wouldn't know how trunk's jacket flys off i don't play esf. Anyway here is my updated tien RH has started the skin sooo....yeah......hope it's good .

Edit: added 5 fingesr to each one the shirt version is 1526 and the ****less version is 1376, i still might add the cape...thinking about it

nice work eclipse, very tienish, your model will be a very tough act to follow depending on the skin/animations, i still need to find somebody willing to animate mine :-(, iam curious to see what the clothed one looks like though with the cape

Dude that ref would be good if we would add DB Tien , but since we arent he needs to be allot more muscular then he is there , because Tien was very muscular in Z , allot more then is shown in that reference

Yeah you practically nailed em Eclipse. Great work.
One crit though the right one doesn't have green trousers but some different coloured ones, if I recall correctly.
Oh and Devion great ref, you're really getting great at this.
Although I don't really like how Tien looks in that early drawing style of Toriyama.
Too much curves and such.

My personal fav version of tien is the one from the cell games with the sort of sash over the one shoulder....is anyone doing that?

Yeah your right the real legend, but so it doesn't look wonkey and his pant color changes for his transformations we decided to stick with green . You can see the shoes from the side on t he previous page i beleive, they lok good from the side, but not the front :S

I WANT to do the sash version, but it doesn't fit in with our transformation plans.....maybe i'll add him l8r or something

eclipse, yours is great, (so's every1's) but theres just 1 prob, i think that the buu saga tien wore brown shoes >_<

And to kreshi, at least say they're my refs >_< lol, and i think the arms are a little blocky, Its lookin ok though, just smooth things out, also i said in the tut thread that the proportions change in dbz according to the character, the refs i drew up were generic, so keep that in mind, look at pics of tien and compare proportions

I dont have yugos model, I know it was just a acusation but I used it as a ref, thats about it, it wasnt really a copy, it was just for some porportions. I dont know where you got the face structure from, this face is old, its from my old goku. Before I even did gogeta or tien. So are the pants from my goku, and feet. Yugos was 10x better then mine. unrendered I have some wierd shadows, but I get where you can see similarities. Its a little more then 1470 but whithout the fingers on my hands its about 400 less, my hands arent great.

@Eclipse - Your Tien with the blue coat is suppose to have white pants. Though, I do realize it isn't skinned yet.

lol by wireframe i ment wireoverlay you should use max to render, what do you is copy the mesh, make it black and wireframe then apply a push modifier of .1 or .01 i forget and render .

I added the cape it's 150 extra polys so u can do the math ....hope you like it and Revitalized Prince I answered that question in a previous post of mine, wince that will be one of his forms it woul look wikid crazy to go from white pants to green pants, so we jsut decided to change the colors a little bit.....anyway here is the cape
