What is the difference between skin and texture?

Ok, say Buu does Mouth Blast on Goku, and Goku only has like 10 hp left, maybe his clothes could be all torn and ripped and stuff like that, like you know how in the show if one of the characters got hit with a really strong blast, there shirt would be gone or there armor would be cracked...
