Please tell us first if you are using Steam or not.

Could you tell us a little bit more of your computer specs? Your processors GHz's, Memory RAM and your Video Card Type. The first 2 can be found my right clicking on "my computer", then "Properties", look at the button. As for your video card, this can be quite important. Do you run OpenGL in the video options in the game?

If you've been adding bots, that's whats probably crashing your game.

Using Bots in the Open Beta gives you an error message though when it crashes.

I have Dual pentium CPU 1,8Ghz, 4Gb RAM, a 512 Mb ATI videa card and video set to Open GL. Any clues? I add no bots. I dont even have to start a server before it shuts down

Look in your Half Life directory for files with the extention .mdmp

Do you have any of those?

No in the Half Life directory. Not the ESF directory.

Delete the esf folder, and redownload and reinstall, don't just reinstall from the setup you have already, that could be the problem

Something could of got corrupted.

Also, before you run Esf, start a game of Half life 1, like the training room or whatever.

I have the same problem, valid steam account, lots of games, halflife 1 works fine, ESF old version works fine but new beta crashes before i get the menu to create a server. I am running Vista Ultimate 64bit, 6 GB of RAM, 2x Nvidia 9800 GT Ultimate Editions in SLI...
