sprites

I was wondering how you edit sprites because i see lots of people doing it for models that are going to be released and i would love to make my own attacks.

Im playing on OpenGL mode. Whenever I try to charge a beam, the charging thing isnt there... like the little ball before it fires. My life bar is blood red, and when Im charging, when the little bar that comes up below you, that tells you how long till its at full, is also blood red. The yellow...

When I tired making an animation for a sprite I ran into a problem.. it said it wasn't of the same set or whatever in the Sprite Wizard program.. any way to fix this?
