Meh, snow, stop whining. 1.2 is better.
I know optional, and have fought him a couple of times. Hes not "hard" he is good, but he is not unstoppable. Probably to YOU yes.SaiyanPrideXIX said:In fact the very melee system you are complaining about was somewhat began as a verbal crusade in the suggestion forums, didn't it? (Correct me if I'm mistaken, of course)
You can still get really good at it so that "noobs" can't beat you easily. In fact, I think it's moreso now. Optional, as I've experienced, will break you in half five times before you hit the ground...you'll never know where he is, and he will not even be teleporting a lot to do it. Sometimes when I played him last, he beat my ass without me even having the slightest idea where he was.
One of the things that made me stop playing 1.1 was the fact that everyone needed a bind of some sort to play. I wanted to play it as it was meant to be--I never bound my teleport button to a mousewheel, I never tried to hit a guy more than once while he was flying through the air, I never intentionally how'ed someone all the time, I didn't recharge after every single swoop even if it was only 5 feet in distance.
1.2 may be slower but in my opinion it's a lot more balanced. The fact that it's accessible to ALL PLAYERS is what makes a GOOD GAMEPLAY DESIGN. A game that can only be enjoyably played by five to ten guys who sit around with it and practice abusing loopholes in the gameplay has BAD GAMEPLAY DESIGN. I really think it's that simple.
I still don't see what the actual argument is about, actually.
I'll put it like this.martinfalch said:I dont understand why these threads get to go so far? Its all been said before, ssjshin dude, go read the 10 other threads about how some ppl think 1.2 sucks, then pm the dudes that think the same as you and let your aggressions out there.. None of us wants to listen to your whining, its not constructive at all..
Nobody is unstoppable, and I enjoy a challenge...when it's legitimate.I know optional, and have fought him a couple of times. Hes not "hard" he is good, but he is not unstoppable. Probably to YOU yes.
No. Let me rewrite that the way it should have been written:Also when you say people sit around actually having to PRACTICE AT THE GAME to get GOOD AT IT that what it is.
Also when you say people sit around actually having to PRACTICE AT DIFFERENT WAYS TO ABUSE THE GAME ENGINE to get GOOD AT IT that what it is.
It's a video game, for christ's sake...not a Samurai Trial of Manhood. If you play it a lot, you get good at it, same as anything.A great design also meaning if you slack off you will pay for it.
This is of course in direct difference to having to learn 1 of the 2 or 3 lame explotive tactics that 1.1 "l33t" players had. Now THAT was varied and deep gameplay. Now in 1.2 you could play the game for 1 day. Come back, and everyone will be as good as you played them that day. Which gets old after a while.
Here's how this should have actually been worded:With the release of 1.2 yea it was great for like 3 days until everyone compared it to 1.1 afterwards.
With the release of 1.2 yea it was great for like 3 days until me and MysticUub started *****ing about it and compared it to 1.1 afterwards.
So why do you play it?Thats really how games now, and days are they are great for the first couple of moments, but after that they either suck, or they don't measure up to other games or they predecessors.

So why do you play it?
Honestly, Carl. These kinds of threads are running out of validity fast. So what if it's different? Learn to adapt around it. Does having balance really bother you that much?
Well you cant say the reason is that he was a HOWER, about 90% of the people who played steam esf (didnt play won) HOWED/LSM w/e u wanna call it.SailorAlea said:In the end, it boils down to this.
You were a HOWer in 1.1.
You, like most of the self-important HOWers, have big problems with 1.2 and are unable to adapt to a drastic change in the way the game changed because of people like you.
Naturally, you whine, piss and moan about a system that requires actual skill to outclass your fellow players. Someone with an edge in maneuverability has a vast advantage in 1.2.
You're just crying about how you want the easy way back. Instead of wasting so much energy constantly whining, you should be practicing if you care so much. And if you're getting touched by newbs, then you're not nearly as good as you think--and that's the real issue here.
You say you're quitting 1.2? Good for you. How about leaving the forums, too?
4 hit combo 2x ends a fight very quickly with melee only. And i never saw an aimbot in steam esf in 1.1 maybe in won but not in steam. and When i was in a server some guy did somthing to crash the server 3x in a row, said somthing like crash sequence (cant spell >.<) and it crashed he did it like 3x. So dont think 1.2 is crash proof. And apes were in 1.1 so unless there scattered newbies, you wrong.SailorAlea said:Advanced Melee is too slow for my tastes, but that's being fixed. You're welcome to use Simple Melee, and combine it with any number of energy combinations, never letting up on your opponent. Battles end quickly that way.
You're not going to win quickly by just using melee, you have to use a combination of the two.
You said 90% of people were HOWers in 1.1.. That's because almost everybody else quit. Remember how empty the servers were at the end of 1.1? A few scattered newbies, and then any one of Silver's old friends using the aimbot would come in, either crash the server or start fingerlaser-botting everyone.
That's not the case anymore.
Exactly my point.4 hit combo 2x
I have seen two ssj flying at each other hit and slide off each other in 1.2 on a daliy basis, never saw it in 1.1. But they said they also slowed it down to make room from new trans speed. SO that ok.shijing said:oooh, the speed... wanna know why the speeds has been brought down? becuase hl1 cannot handle high speeds as your hits go through the hitbox, making it impossible to hit your opponent. in 1.1, you possibly saw this, two ssj's with a super high pl collide, you just slip by them, you tend to hit half of the time, so you end up flying around aimlessly. in 1.2, they knocked the speed for various reasons. the first being however your goes, you can hit 100% of the time with no slips, and second being that you can react in the time limit, in 1.1 again, the speeds were so fast that you basicly just span in circles trying to catch your opponents flight path, in 1.2 they knocked it down so you can actually react to your opponents movement, meaning you have to be skillfull in attacking, unlike in 1.1 with "omg!! wiggle my mouse around while holding right click and cross my fingers i hit them for once!" as for bugs, yes, there are a few ATM, but thats what fresh updates tend to have dont they? 1.2 is having a patch soon to stop most of the bugs.. so try not to crit somthing so harshly, it makes no point as the reasons have been stated in readme's, threads, posts and devs. -_-
