V.B. opened her eyes, and stared at the dark rocks around her. What happened? Where was she? Then it came back, and she sat up. She had to find Scooter, and she had to find him fast. Looking around she saw nobody near her, and so slid off the rock, touching the cold ground with her bare feet. Her torn suit was beside the rock, and she was wearing only her leather underwear, but she didn’t notice. After being in the military for so long, she had become hardened to things like this. Many times you’d wake up in your underwear or completely naked; strip searches came with the job. She lifted up her suit and stared at the holes. It was still usable as clothing, but not as a spacesuit. Even the slightest tear could ruin a spacesuit, no matter how tight or baggy. She found her gun only a few feet away, and held it tightly, having no place to put it.

She heard footsteps, and on impulse trained her gun for the source of the sound. The boy smiled at her as he waved in a friendly manner. He was odd looking. He resembled Scooter, and Bob at the same time, but there was something about him…

“Are you human?” Vee asked, keeping her gun on him.

“Yes. I am Koblano.” He extended his hand, but Vee only stared at it.

“Is this the real Earth? Were we wrong?”

“We?” Koblano looked down for a moment, and then looked back at her. “No, you were right. This is the ‘fake’ Earth. The one that Dalamar created.”

“Good. At least we know that Howdy’s where he should be.”

“Could you lower that gun?” Koblano asked, pointing.

“Why?”

Koblano straightened his glasses. “Well, I don’t like having guns put in my face. Besides, how am I supposed to give you these clothes if you won’t let me near you?”

Vee outstretched one arm, and snatched the bundle from Koblano, then pulled it back. She didn’t realize how close he was to her. Koblano smiled at her and began to back away.

“You can get dressed.”

She smirked. “You’ve already seen my underwear, so why leave as I dress?”

“Because, I’m going to go get Bandit. Listen, whoever you are, I want you to know that you’re the best thing that ever happened to us. I’m not sure why, but I feel like you’re something special.” With that, he left.

Vee stared after him, and realized that he didn’t know she was a Starfleet member. Despite the suit, he didn’t know. She smiled and put on the gray tee shirt and blue jeans that he gave her, then took her own boots and slipped them on her feet. She also found her watch in the midst of her old clothing, and an extra pack of cigarettes. She lifted one up to her mouth and lit it, inhaling more than ever before. She needed it.

“So, you’re awake.” Bandit said, smiling as he came into view.

Vee blew out a smoke ring.

“You’re human too?”

Bandit nodded. “Do you remember anything, girl? Anything about how you fell through our roof?”

Vee nodded. “For one, me and my friends were ambushed by a group of rebel scum that have possibly killed my friends already. As luck would have it, an earthquake started at the same time, and lucky me came crashing through.” He raised an eyebrow, like he didn’t believe her story. But of course he wouldn’t; he also didn’t know she was a Starfleet pilot, for sure. After all, one human didn’t it, so it was only likely that the other one didn’t know either. Slaves were deprived of so many things. “And, by the way, my name is V.B., not ‘girl’.”

Bandit looked at her oddly. “V.B.?”

She looked at him coldly. “My name is my name. I know it, and that’s all the importance it has. Nobody else in the galaxy knows my name except for me, and I plan on leaving it that way.”

Bandit nodded. “Fair enough. But how did you get here, may I ask?”

“I told you.”

“I mean, how did you get on this planet?”

She smirked. “By a spacecraft, of course.”

Koblano’s eyes lit up. “What kind? Can you take us to it? Maybe we could get off this planet!”

Vee shook her head. “No, it’s most likely gone by now. Besides, I’m not leaving this planet yet.” Not without Scooter.

Bandit looked at her. “Can you fire a weapon?”

“I have a gun.”

She held it up for him to see, and he smiled.

“Do you like fighting?”

“Who doesn’t?”

Koblano raised his hand, and smiled sheepishly. Bandit turned around and whispered something to him. He nodded.

“V.B., would you come with us back to Earth?”

“Why?”

“To help free the slaves from Dalamar.”

Vee looked away to smile. As much as she wanted to find Scooter, if these guys had any shortcut to Dalamar, she would take it. Scooter would want her to kill Dal before he hurt any more people. She got out another cigarette, even though her first wasn’t gone, and tucked the rest in her pocket. She changed her face to the aloof expression that had grown to become her, and then turned back around.

“Sure.”

Koblano and Bandit smiled. Vee looked up at the hole in the roof, and thought of Scooter again. What was happening to him? Then she felt a shriek echo across the fabric of time, a shriek that tore through her heart and soul, and broke her mind apart. She could feel one of the three hearts connected being severed, and she trembled. It was Ryoko. Something was wrong with Ryoko. Bandit and Koblano noticed her digging her teeth into her cigarette, and watched as her body stiffened. Ryoko was trying to make her see. Trying to lead her to where he was. Both of their minds were combining in a way that Vee had never experienced before, and wasn’t sure if she wanted to experience again.

She could see a man standing with a scalpel, and everything was so cold. She knew that this man was betraying something, but she didn’t know what. He jammed the scalpel into the stomach of whoever she was in…Ryoko…and moved down until his blade touched the tip of Ryoko’s “underwear”. Purple blood poured out everywhere, and she heard someone screaming. Was it herself? Was it Ryoko? She couldn’t tell. She was he, and he was she. They were one being. The man put something inside of Ryoko, a small metal box—it was a very cold metal—and then grabbed a small device. A red beam went out of it and began to melt the skin together again. Somebody was screaming again.

“…bomb…”

Vee realized what the box was, and this time she knew that she was the one screaming. The vision blurred and Vee found herself back in the cave with Koblano and Bandit, who were both looking at her with wide eyes. She gasped as the last of Ryoko left her, and the force of whatever it was knocked her to her knees. She watched as a small bit of her own blood dripping onto the ground.

“What happened? What was that?” Koblano asked.

Bandit smiled. “It’s something I’ve only heard of.” Bandit raised his voice, in case Vee couldn’t hear him; but she did, and found it annoying. “Was it a Neilan?”

She nodded slowly. “What was that?”

Bandit smiled. “Whenever a Neilan faces something that will mean the death of him, usually those closest to him will also face it, no matter how far apart they are. I guess it’s something ‘psychic’. He telepathically connected to you during his fear and pain, and how it works, I don’t know. But it does.”

“How do you know that?” Vee asked, her voice weak.

“I, uh…” Bandit stopped and looked down. It was the first time Koblano noticed that he had ever lost his composure. “Hey, shouldn’t we be going to Earth now?”

“Let me rest for a moment, willya? I’ve kinda just been ripped from my universe and thrown into his. It hurts.”

“You only feel what he feels.”

She glared at him, and he looked away from her. Taking in deep breaths, she finally lifted herself onto her feet, and walked over to them.

“Well, boys, take me to your leader.”

“You don’t want to rest some more?” Koblano asked.

“No, I’m fine.”

She hoped she was right, because if she was going up against Dalamar, she needed to be fine. She needed to be better than fine; she needed to be perfect. If she were even the least bit slowed down in any way it wouldn’t be good for her. After all, she was fighting against Dalamar. Though not necessarily tough, he was cruel and uncaring, and would blow himself up to get to her. But, if she died killing the cruelest creature in the world, then so be it. If she was going to die, it was meant to happen.

NEW CHARACTER - Bangoth, the doctor.

The medic bay on Howdy’s ship was highly technological, stocked with chemically based medicines, and the latest in medical gear. It was the most valuable possession of Howdy’s, and one of the few that he was proud of. Bangoth, one of the most highly respected doctors, and the best of them all, was Howdy’s as well. Having the perfect medical room and staff, Howdy couldn’t go wrong. He was on his way to becoming commander. Bee was sitting on one of the tables as Bangoth used a small computer to help him process and scan the data in the short amount of time that he was famous for. Howdy stared at the little girl, thinking things over. Her blood, hair, and eyes were just like Vee’s, and even though Bee looked younger, she wasn’t. There was only one explanation, and Howdy hated to admit it was true. Vee had been cloned. The computer beeped, showing a duplicate of Vee’s fingerprint. Bangoth looked at Howdy, frowning, and then back to Bee.

“Honey, do you remember anything?” He asked her, in his nicest of tones.

Bee smiled. “I ‘memba waking up and seeing dis guy, and he was scawy. Den...den I met Hiki, and he wasn’t scawy.” She looked down, and put her finger to her lip, as though it helped her think. “Den I ‘memba you huwting Hiki, and da’s aw.”

“You don’t remember your mother, or father?”

“No, no momma, no poppa... but I do have a sista’! Vee! Vee!” She clapped her hands, and then crossed her arms. “When can I hewp Hiki? He’s huwt!”

Bangoth smiled and pulled a red lollipop from his pouch. He handed it to Bee, and then walked over to Howdy. He motioned for Howdy to step outside, and then slid the door shut behind his captain. He knew the proper etiquette for somebody as important as Howdy was.

“She’s exactly like Vee. Despite the fact that she looks like she’s only five or six years old, she’s the ripe young age of eighteen! She’s also stronger, faster, and smarter than anybody I’ve ever seen; she just doesn’t know how to use those gifts yet.”

Howdy looked at her throw the glass on the door, and smirked. “How would she remember how to use these things? How can she learn to be the best?”

“Sir, she is already doing that. The tragedy and horror of seeing you hurt Hibiki has put her learning at an accelerated rate, and she is, right now, stronger than the normal human adult, faster than a cheetah, and more capable of any sort of thinking than any being in this universe! It won’t take long for her to become the monster she was created for.”

“How can this be? How can she be a perfect clone of Vee, and yet the most awesome being we have ever seen. Vee is ****y, but Bee is humble; Vee is stubborn, but Bee hasn’t resisted anything; Vee doesn’t care, but Bee is crying over an outlaw...how can they be one and the same person?”

“Sir, do you remember Cucumba?”

“Of course.” Howdy subconscious balled his hand into a fist. “How can I forget?”

“Well, he was very power crazed and suicidal, but Gasaraki is more reserved and fearing of things. They are clones, but some parts of what made Cucumba was highlighted more in Gasaraki, while others were watered down. Gasaraki is also power crazy and suicidal, and Cucumba was afraid. It’s like mood swings, sir, if that makes any sense.”

It was the best explanation of cloning Howdy had ever heard, but he didn’t tell Bangoth that. He couldn’t let himself lower his self image by complimenting a mere medic. A thought crossed Howdy’s mind that dimmed all others, and his eyes fell upon Bee. She turned to look at him, and a tear trickled down her cheek. She knew what he was thinking.

“Say, doctor.” Bangoth looked at him, patiently waiting for Howdy to continue. “You said that hurting Hibiki made her learn to use some of her...abilities, right?”

“Correct.”

“Then, what will happen if we hurt Aaroan?”

The doctor stared at his captain. “Sir, I don’t think that’s a good idea. For one thing, she doesn’t like Aaroan near as much as she likes Hibiki, for some reason.”

“Then, let’s hurt Hibiki again. I have enough ammo.”

“Sir!” Bangoth kept his respect, even though he was scolding. “Hibiki is in no condition to be torturing! I’m afraid he might not even make it through the night!” Bangoth looked at his charts, then back to his captain. “Besides, if Bee learns how to use these skills of hers, and she sees what you’re doing to her friend, don’t you think she’ll try and kill you?”

Howdy smiled. “I didn’t think about that. Good point, doctor. Now, I need some food, and I need to go talk with Aaroan for a while; keep a close eye on Bee, and don’t let her leave. If possible, let her visit Hibiki, too.”

Bangoth frowned in disapproval, but whatever Howdy said was his command, like a genie and his master. Howdy liked things like that. Bangoth walked back into the sick bay, and smiled at Bee. She wiped tears from her eyes and raised her arms, motioning for him to pick her up. He did so with pleasure, and carried her towards her own room.

“We’re going to see Hibiki after some food, Bee.”

She looked at Bangoth with a look that only V.B. could pull off—complete aloofness.

“Doctor Bangoth.” She said, without her childish mispronunciations. “I want to see Hibiki now. I don’t trust Howdy.”

He stared at her. “Why not?”

“He’s not really Howdy. He’s somebody else.”

Bangoth looked down the hallway where he had last seen his captain. “What do you mean?”

“Howdy’s dead.” She placed her head against his shoulder, and wrapped her arms around his neck. “Take me to Hibiki.” Bangoth nodded, and changed directions back to the medical room. He pushed started to push open the door to the Operations Room, when Bee took his hand in hers. “Don’t let Howdy come near my friends.”

“I promise I won’t.”

Bangoth kissed her forehead and set her down on her own legs. She smiled and pushed open the door to the OR.

Well, I have time for a little bit of writing.

Bob moaned as he was chained into the cell by the beast Farago. It was small, having only a cot and sink to fill it up. Bob’s legs felt numb, and he had a bitter taste in that mouth; everything else was just pretend. Tranquilizers had lost their overall effect on Bob back when he was in Boot Camp. He had forced his body to resist poisons and other such harmful chemicals, and it had paid off. Farago checked the bondage to make sure it was tight, and then headed for the door.

“Chitenga uses this cell for my bed.” He said, peeking at Bob with one eye. “It will hold you tightly until we’re ready for you.”

The door closed and Farago disappeared from Bob’s view, and the captain got to work. He pulled with all his strength, but the links didn’t loosen; he kicked, bashed, and smashed the bondage, but nothing worked. Sighing, he sat down on a small cot, and began to scheme. The links were unbreakable, and the cage looked sealed for the most deadly of beasts. It was going to be tough, but Bob was going to get out one way or another.

Bee stared into Hibiki’s sleeping face, and smiled. He was bruised, and naked except for bandages and single, thin sheet. He had gone through surgery, having his kneecap and ear reattached, and as far as Bee could tell, they had done a good job on it. If it weren’t for the pale ring of dead skin circling them, Bee wouldn’t have been able to tell they were ever gone. It was good that he wasn’t permanently harmed.

Hibiki moaned and opened his one good eye, while the other remained a black spot on his face. He saw Bee and started to sit up, but Bee pushed him back down.

“No no,” She said, smiling. “You not gettin’ up yet! You’w too huwt!”

“Bee? Where’s Aaroan? What happened?”

“Aawoan’s not hewa, but dat’s okay! Bee’s hewa!” Hibiki looked around, and remembered what happened. His face turned pale and he looked towards the door, expecting the mad Howdy to burst in any time and kill him. Bee smiled at his anxiety, and placed her lollipop on the bed, beside his hand. “Hewa ya go, Hiki. Candy!”

She pulled a red bubblegum stick from her pocket, and began to chew it, then took out the firecracker he had given her.

“Do ya know where Howdy is?” Hibiki asked, gripping the candy.

Bee nodded. “Yeah! He’s out dere. Not shu what he’s doing, but he’s not nowhewe’s neaw hewa. You’w safe.” He relaxed at hearing that, and began to fall back into sleep. “Howdy’s dead.”

That woke him up again. “What?”

“Howdy’s dead. He died a long time ago, by da hands of someone named...coocoomber?”

“Cucumba.” Hibiki corrected. “What do ya mean? Cucumba’s been dead!”

“No.” Bee said. Hibiki tried prying more information from her, but she only chewed on her gum, smiling at him like a schoolgirl with a crush. “Hey.” She finally said, “Get betta soon.”

“Thanks.”

She turned and left the room without saying anything else, and Hibiki stared down at the lollipop. He didn’t trust it. He carefully dropped it over the side of the bed, and listened to it crack against the metal ground. He closed his eyes, but he was far from ready to sleep. What did she mean Howdy was dead? Or that Cucumba had killed him? It wasn’t logical. When did Howdy even have contact with Cucumba before Cucumba had died? It didn’t make any sense. But Bee was just a little girl, with a vivid imagination. There was no way...

Howdy yawned and starting drifting again, only half listening to the room, and half thinking.
