^ Superman does have some low showings, but keep in mind that once he was nearby Kryptonite, he was already weakened. Which would explain why Batman was able to punch him.

This is what happened when Batman DIDN'T have Kryptonite

Superman is dodging Batmans punches to actually save his hand from shattering.

Superman actually has more potential than Saiyans. There's an alternate universe Superman who sundipped for thousands of years and became an omniscient god, who could do literally anything he desired, with a thought he could make planet Vegeta never exist in the first place.

You guys are still disregarding Superman holding down a full time job.

That's not easy to do while being Superman. We don't see Goku having to meet any article deadlines. Although Goku gets some points for raising a kid, even though he really didn't raise him.

Come to think of it Chichi worried about Gohan's education and what not, Goku just kinda waited until he was old enough so he could start wailing on him.

"Training."

It is a tough call, but I'd say Superman holds out because he had to go to middle school/high school.

wait so let me get this right...

they're allowed to include all of the various DBZ sagas, but only one specific comic range of Superman comics, and only up to a certain point?

biased much?

anyway, y'all are stupid. the entire point of superman, is that his abilities have no limits at all. there's only one character in the history of DC to have definitively beaten him, and that was Doomsday. superman appeared to have died, but after recovering over a period of years in stasis within the fortress of solitude, he returned far, FAR stronger than he ever was before, it's largely hinted at, that all kryptonians (Doomsday is a kryptonian who's been genetically enhanced to the point where this happens much much more rapidly) have the ability to overcome things that could cause them permanent harm or death. in this case, superman became strong enough to beat Doomsday.

Superman can now also become "overpowered" by absorbing too much solar energy.

anywho... it's kinda moot as to who would win, because in order to win either party would need to go all out, and that would likely destroy much of whichever planetary system they were inhabiting at that time. except neither character would take the fight that far as they both desire to save life where possible.

now, if we're talking goku vs evil superman... lol goku gonna spend a long time in the afterlife :D

They are using Goku at the very end of GT. After he absorbed the Dragon Balls and grew up again.

They are using Superman from the latest canon comic due to there being too many different forms of Superman that would change anything. They pretty much said if they used all the noncanon Superman then AF would also be allowed and no one wants that.

Fans didn't want GT goku either but GT iis a non mangaed Continuation. They allow it due to Akira Toriyama still having some form of help in GT.

I don't know....Isn't it a bit unfair that Superman had so many writers? And that each of them gave him more and more power? It is like someone would take a character and then multiple people would come and give him powers until they make him invincible, without making much sense.Goku only had Akira Toryama to model and develope him...Shouldn't they use a version of Superman that has been made by ONE writer?

much like how goku inexplicably got more and more powerful... hell, he even managed to magically attain SSJ3 status while DEAD. he came back from the dead, with an ability nobody had ever seen of or heard of until that point... and all because they needed an excuse to make him more powerful.

and the real kicker is... while dead, he is weightless, gravity has no effect on him, and therefor no matter how much he trained he SHOULD never have really gotten stronger.

so basically, what you're saying is, it's okay to be biased in favour of one of the contenders, despite the fact that both of them continued on an upward trend of power gain as they fought each new opponent. except you're saying "we'll allow ones trend to continue past the other one".

It would be silly if DB fans could use AF material. It's like me using my sisters fanmade comics as feats. The main DC universe Superman is still the same Superman who flew through a double blackhole, pushed a planet, took a pointblank supernova, etc. GT Goku had quite a bit of low showings, like him cutting cut by glass, and having to put in some effort to push a building.

Well Supermans original creators haven't been alive for decades. It's not like Superman just randomly got stronger one day. He got stronger with time. They're using GT which isn't even canon anyway.

Superman when he first appeared was quite weak. Over time he got more and more powerful until he became the ridiculous Superman who could sneeze out Solar System, juggle multiple planets, go hundreds of times the speed of light, etc. Then the Antimonitor attacks the DC multiverse in what they call the "crisis". He wipes out universe after universe eventually causing the DC multiverse to reboot. This is where modern day Superman is born. Again, he starts off weak, slowly grows more stronger after time. He cant juggle multiple planets, or move hundreds of times the speed of light. He can however, move a single planet, and go faster than light.

Hey,is there anyway that I can learn more about superman?I mean find comics online or something.I see you know a lot about Superman and I'd like to learn more.

--- edit ---

so which writer then?
I don't care as long as It's one and made Superman resemble what he is today.I mean there must have been one writer that was more predominant for him...

how do you mean "resemble what he is today"? do you refer to the movies? if so, that's silver age. so goku loses. do you refer to the justice league animates series? if so that's a mix of silver/golden age arcs. so goku loses.

the biggest problem here, is that superman's powers are never truly defined, except by other heroes (and villains) who all attest to the simple following fact: Superman has never used his entire strength, because (in his own words) he "feels like he's living in a world of cardboard". Batman even went so far as to say that if superman ever hit someone with the full force of his strength, there wouldn't even be a paste left of them.

the only time superman has ever fought other super heroes, has been in the following capacities:
under the influence of kryptonite
under mind control
as an alternate dimensional superman who is pure evil, and shattered reality by punching it (badass, right?)

under the influence of kryptonite, he was both weakened and confused, but still maintained enough control of himself to not kill his comrades.
under mind control, he fought batman, and batman said "there must be some part of Clark in there, still in control, otherwise i'd be a smear on the wall already".

the alternate dimension... was just brutal, lol.

i realise that batman is to superman, what krillin is to goku though. but still, when the other heroes and villains claim superman has never truly exerted himself... well. yeah.

anyway, like i said i don't think there would be a clear winner, and stated my reasons why. and to be honest i don't even know why i'm arguing this. DBZ fanboys are DBZ fanboys after all!

You're right.Fanboys will be fanboys...I meant that I wanted to know more about how he became what he is...And I thought that there must have been some writer who had a bigger role in creating him than others.I also wanted to know more about him and these ages...silver golden etc.Sound like he's had quite a few changes.

The Wiki would be a good place to start.

Other than that, the best way would be to start reading comics. Ren can give better advice there.

How do you know it reached there in a "second"? Even if it does, what does that have to do with anything? If a baseball player can throw a baseball at 90km a second, does that mean he can move that fast as well? Dragonball characters can sense ki, and know when it's coming. If you see an oncoming car, you can dodge it even if you're no where near as fast as a car.
Watch DB(Z) and you would have known....
Half those fall under, "ki attacks", and "instant transmission". Fighting technique really won't save him. Did fighting technique save Krillin from Frieza? The difference is, the gap between Superman/Goku, is far greater than Krillin/Frieza.
No they don't, if you think you do, you haven't been watched DBZ at all.
Instant Transmission is only instant after he locks onto a ki signature, but he has to find one first before he can do it. Whereas movement speed is instantaneous, and can react on the fly with it. Superman actually see everything in ultra slow motion. For example, Louis Lane opens the door and tells Superman she wants champagne from another country, before she can even close the door or finish her sentence, Superman has already been to the other country, came back, prepared the champagne, and changed his clothes.

http://img151.imageshack.us/img151/8592/moonbust4doqm1.jpg

btw Superman went 17x the speed of light in a fit of rage, to reach Saturn in 4 minutes
Goku would there be in an instant and back....
Majin Buu can die can't he? Doomsday cannot. Doomsday constantly evolves during the fight, and is fast enough to even tag Flash.
Doomsday is a weakling compared to Freeza. I have never seen him destroying whole countries with one move, let alone a whole planet.
Their main attacks ARE basically just ki blasts just slightly manipulated. Scatter shot is hardly any different. Solar Flare is one of the rare attacks that is actually quite different, though it wouldn't really have much affect on someone who can open their eyes in the core of a sun.
Put your Supes glasses off please. Yes there are very different. Only the mega ki attack like kamehameha and final flash are very similar.
It was said by Goku when he was describing it that he has to pinpoint a ki signature before he can teleport there. That alone makes it inferior to actual movement speed. Which logically would explain why he doesn't use every single time he needs to move in battle.
Again pinpointing isn't a problem with someone standing in front of you and with an insane powerlevel.
We HAVE seen Goku struggle with 40 tons in the other world. When did a DBZ fighter lift 40,000 tons? 80kg is definitely unlikely for someone around 165 cm. But it's besides the point, it doesn't matter if Vegeta, trains under 35 tons, can lift 4000, or 40,000 tons. It's still absolutely nothing compared to 40 billion tons.
You haven't read my argument. The gravity has to be different. Radditz could already lift a truck with ease, which is easily 1500KG. Your 40 ton argument is strawman and it doesn't take a genius to figure out that couldn't be right. Come with better arguments.
DB characters can dodge ki attacks because they can sense ki before it's fired. They cannot sense Superman who naturally moves FTL.
*sigh* Freeza, Nappa, Radditz, Saiyan Saga Vegeta all couldn't sense Ki yet where able to dodge it. Or you don't know DBZ or you are just being dishonest.
My point is, you should learn about SUPERMAN before you make silly comments like "Superman is a cripple compared to Goku"
He is. Superman is one of the most 2D(Figure of speech) fighters out there, expect for most other DC characters made.
Except no one in DBZ proved they can blow up a Solar System. It was stated that it took Majin Buu several YEARS to destroy HUNDREDS of planets. A being who lived only to destroy took YEARS to destroy HUNDREDS of planets, not even thousands.
Freeza blew up planet Vegeta in 30 seconds and he wasn't even trying. Hell there was a whole army blocking his attack. We don't know what Majin Buu has been doing all these years. What we do know is that he isn't a cold hearted efficent planet buster, nor very intelligent. He could have just blown up earth and be done with it. Yet he choose to fight the DBZ characters. So no he wasn't only blowning up planets, that would have been out of character for him.

Ya know... Truthfully this fight wouldn't end. They would end up just walking off as friends. Let alone we see how Superman and Flash's race ended. Goku nor Superman don't really take shit full power in the beginning ever.
