Exactly, when I first started out on the forums I suggested loads of stuff to make it closer to the show, and eventually realised that balance takes priority over realism. It's a game, not something you watch. It's very possible to have <a href="http://forum.esforces.com/showthread.php?t=50899">both</a></li> in the same suggestion. This would take out the point of discs as one-hit kills, nobody would use them against Buu/Cell.
Buu and Goku are the most powerful characters, Buu in particular. Making Buu immune to one of the few things that are effective against him sort of removes the point. If the team were going to make it true to the show then Buu would be immune to melee, which would be unfair. Same applies here.
