What the hell.. i post a joke and get a slap on the hands. You guys post jokes, and everyone's cool with it.
Well atleast im the one that set the precedent i suppose =P
The Chappelle video is relevant because of all the other stuff that is going on in the world like the economy, Iran, Iraq, and...ahem...North Korea I suppose. And then he dies and the media focuses on him. And I actually remembered that bit when I heard Jackson died and still thought it was funny because it wasn't tasteless.
The other video was actually a video criticizing the media. When Jackson was accused of child molestation, the media was heavily against him and had gone as far as to print lies, exaggerate, and word articles against him. Now every news outlet is mourning him, because that is what's selling.
I work at FYE and we were sold out of all MJ CDs except 2. A lady walked in and asked what we had left and I showed them to her, and she said she'd take them both. I was talking to her about his death while I was ringing her up and was worried she would start crying if I got too deep in to it. A white middle aged (mother?) talking on the same ground about the same musician to a 19 year old black boy who really does not listen to music like that is not an easy thing to do.
The funny thing is: I would not leave my child with him alone. Had it been a normal guy telling us about his father abusing him, not having a childhood, but say he is innocent while saying it's okay to sleep in the same bed, I would not believe it. MJ was ****ed up, and someone should have helped him, but he is not this evil, crazy, "Wacko Jacko" some people have painted him to be.
When I found out I was with my girlfriend at a park. I was in shock and she chuckled at the idea of him dying. I probably sound like a broken record by now D:, but really, he was a very important person and his death was mourned millions of people. You can dislike his music, him as a person, or whatever, but if you are going to myopically pass him off as a "bad guy that got what he deserved", then it's just plain ignorant if you ask me.
But alas it's the internet. I've seen plenty of "lulz MJ dies, he ****s kids" exclamations on Newgrounds, so it'd be naive to expect everyone to be respectful.
Must be very frustrating for Farrah Fawcett's family and friends though to be overshadowed.
