No, actually, Im not going too. It seems to me that the main features of SA is that you can customize your character and you can have four-man drivebys. To me these seem minor. I loved Vice City because it intoduced you to a whole new world, literally. It was the first time you could go in doors, the first time you could ride bikes, buy the clubs etc etc. This one seems as if its just a way to get a little bit more money off of GTA fans. I actually truely believe that they went for the ghetto look in this one so that people wont notice how much of the same game this would be.

Correct me if Im wrong.

Customize your character, as well as shops to customize cars.
4-6 times as large as Vice City was.
Recruit gang members.
Better cop AI.
3 cities with miles of open country between each one, so unlike VC, the cities don't conveniently flow directly into each other.
Ability to improve Shooting, Driving, Fighting skills as the game progresses.
Rob houses.
Swimming.
No limit to as how high you can fly (it obviously has to end somewhere, but it IS higher.)
Barrel rolls/flips in planes.
Not to mention all the graphical improvements.
-----------------------------------

I've already put 100% down on this game. Now all I have to do is wait for it to come out. But I guess I'm just getting Vice City "ghetto'd" up right?

Underlined - They fall under the same category really
Bold - Come on, honestly, those are minor features.
Bold+Underlined - What graphical improvements? Ive seen screenshots of the game a little while ago and it looks pretty much the same to me.

Other then that, alright, so it has more features then what I pointed out. It still seems to me that other then the map size, everything is just a little upgrade, and little upgrades arent worth 50 dollars man.

Again, correct me on anything if Im wrong. (Other then my opinion, which I am entitled too.)

Taken from PlanetGta.
# Expect "real-time reflections on cars, windows, floors, and mirrors, as well as new techniques like radial lighting, which allows for more realistic shadowing, and soft-shadow lighting for interior levels," said Game Informer.
# 35%-50% Increased Polygon Count over Vice City.
# "Impact animation, could be ragdoll, but R* has yet to make an official statement as to what exactly it is.
# Compared to Vice City, draw distance has doubled in urban areas and is four times as far as in rural areas.
# The game is so big that it needs a dual-layer DVD.
# Everything in the game now has independent models for day and night to give better lighting and shadowing.
# When switching from city to countryside or vice versa, there will be no more "postcard loading times." It will be "seamless."
# Only the foilage (grass, trees, bushes) that can be seen on the screen is rendered.
# The only loading times in GTA: SA are slight pauses when entering buildings.
# Due to the improved engine, more pedestrians and vehicles can be on the screen at the same time.
# Enhanced A.I. where every character has a "brain."
# There will be less pop-up of distant objects. Houses can be seen from far away.
# Groups of trees will be rendered as a group from distance. If you get closer, they'll be rendered seperately. Because of this, a bigger draw distance is possible.

You're being quite the hypocrit. Vice City only had a few major improvements as well. Bikes, Entering Buildings, and Buying Property, with it's array of minor improvements as well.

San Andreas' big improvements. customizable "insert whatever", map size, technical improvements, swimming (this is huge, I think people have been wanting this since the first time they drowned in GTA 3, even MORE enterable buildings, AI/Character interaction improvement, and it also has it's array of minor improvements.

There's a not a whole lot more that could have been added without staying true to GTA.

@Unknown - as long as there are crazy strict moral goody-goody moms that have sand in their vaginas, any game with violence will offend someone.

@Opti - Aight, cool, so it has major graphical improvements. Obviously I didnt seem to notice them from the bunch of screenshots I saw. Sue me :p
And about your comment, I must disagree. If you look at it now, yes the improvements VC had do seem minor. However if you compare GTA3 to VC, you will realize how VC introduced you to a practically new world. The planes, the boats, the bikes, the buildings (especially the malls, I was amazed by those), and the property. Im sure VC had graphical improvements over GTA3.

Dont get me wrong here, Im not stating the SA is going to be a bad game. Im just saying it seems like a minor upgrade. However, considering the combination of better AI, better graphics, and the character customization, I must admit it deserves its status as a new title.

Omg Opti, youve just convinced a person to spend $50 :O

Yup, opti is right. I pre-ordered the game as well. I'll Just Sum All The New Features up In One Post. And if you still think these are not new or good enough concepts that makes it worth a $50 purchase, then i dont what to say, except ur going to miss out on what could possibly be GOTY Material, even though Halo 2 pretty much got that award. Anyway even though OP posted some in each post, ill just sum it all up, and keep in mine that there are some more features as well, but this should be enough to prove our point.

GTA SA Basic New Features

Three cities to roam: "Los Santos" (Los Angeles), "San Fierro" (San Francisco) and "Las Venturra" (Las Vegas).

"The entire game area is approximately four to six times as large as the entirety of either of the previous entries in the series," said Dan Houser.

Expect "real-time reflections on cars, windows, and mirrors, as well as new techniques like radial lighting, which allows for more realistic shadowing, and soft-shadow lighting for interior levels," said Game Informer.

Everything in the game now has independent models for day and night to give better lighting and shadowing.

Four-person drive-by shootings.

House robberies.

Mountain(s) and Smog.

Bicycles.

"Impact animation," also known as ragdoll physics.

Stamina meter as well as the ability to stay fit or get fat.

Enhanced A.I. where every character has a "brain".

The ability to swim.

You will be able to recruit gang members to go with you wherever you want and do four-person drive-by's.

Dual weapons (dual pistols confirmed) have been implemented

GTA SA Gameplay Features

These 'in between' areas will contain their own unique characters and gameplay sequences.

San Fierro (San Francisco) contains lots of hills, and will involve a lot of driving.

There are tons of fully rendered interiors, which will involve new styles of gameplay.

Because of these interior expansions, you have the ability to rob houses.

Buying properties and making business is to expand greatly.

In Las Venturra, you are able to buy, construct and run your very own casino.

The game contains a greater level of seriousness, but still includes humour.

San Andreas will include some 'familiar faces'... some characters from previous titles.

Because of the new pedestrian modes, you can recruit members into your gang, to help you with missions.

You can conduct 4-person drive-by shootings.

All tasks, missions and side-missions have a purpose. They all contain relevance to the main storyline, and allow you to learn new skills required in missions.

House break-ins require skill and planning. It's not as easy as a car-jacking.

As you progress, new styles of gameplay are introduced.

In Las Venturra, you can gamble your well earned money.

The game will still include built in tutorials, however, there are hundreds of skills to learn, so instead of installing hundreds of tutorials, you learn these skills during missions & side tasks.

In every mission you will be doing something new.

In order to maintain physical state, Carl must eat and goto the Gym. He can become obese, and underweight. This involves a stamina meter. Too much fast food and no exercise makes Carl obese. Carl's lifestyle and physical condition will affect his stamina, and the gameplay.

You can collect missions in the countryside.

You now have the ability to swim in the game. If you drive into water, you can escape through the car window, or sink along with the vehicle! Some missions require swimming.

You can get a haircut, and style of your choice.

You can bounce your car with the right analog stick.

Carl chews gum.

The weather system has improved, and is packed with extra features.

You can 'hide' from police, in shadows and behind buildings. You can pick them off one by one, using various new techniques.

The game will still be hilarious, although seriousness has increased.

You can take over areas of the map, with your gang, the Orange Grove Families.

The game is set in early 1990s; one of the most troubled and divisive times in Californian history.

The radio will contain a mixture of different 90s style songs, aswell as some famous (older) west coast songs.

There are new styles of car-jacking.

The Setting

San Andreas is not a city, it's a state.

The city will not be set in Los Angeles, San Francsico or Las Vegas, but in all three.

The cities will contain countryside in between.

The state will contain three cities, Los Santos (Los Angeles), San Fierro (San Francisco) and Las Venturra (Las Vegas)

Each city is approximately the same size as Vice City.

Not all of the cities will be accessible to begin with.

The entire game is estimated to be 4-6 times larger than previous GTA releases.

You can travel between cities, on roadways that pass countryside.

The countryside offers a mountain.

It is possible to drive from LA, through countryside, up a mountain into San Francisco, and onto Las Vegas.

Every bit of the new map is crisp, and has a lot more going on than previous titles.

There is desert land in the game, which will be deserted. It will however, contain very interesting features.

The cities contain miles and miles of interstate, valleys, freeways, deserts, coastline and badlands. You are free to explore all of them.

The countryside contains fiels, farms, rivers, forests, deserts and hills.

The countryside contains a legendry mountain nearly half a mile tall. It takes a minute just to fly from the base to the top in a chopper, and much longer on bike.

The desert contains tumbleweed.[/

Weapons

There are new fist fighting techniques. When you target someone, green will be displayed if they have full health, yellow at half, and red if they can be killed in another shot.

Targetting systems have improved greatly. Developed from Manhunt's targetting system.

The weapons are limited to what was available during the 90s time period.

Vehicles
[Speciality vehicles can be unlocked.

New vehicles that aren't available in town, are available in the countryside, like quad bikes.

You can race in the country.

There will be new modes of transportation. BMX Bicycles.

Car handling is improved.

Hundreds of new vehicles have been added
.

Edit: Eh, nvm he already convinced you ^_^.

How? Who? What?

I hate things being taken out of games, like the Shuriken from Tenchu (PAL) or the video of the suicide ending for Silent Hill 2, just because it offends someone or promotes violence. I think Manhunt was a step to far but still.

Anyway, this game looks amazing, i've got it on preorder, everything on Sakura's post
makes the game sound amazing. One other thing that I don't think has been mentioned is the inclusion of 3 fighting styles. Tae Kwon Do, Boxing, and Street Fighting. And 2 kinds of swords including a decent 2-handed katana.

I won't be getting this on release. Went to my local Gamestation, they said that every single copy they were getting had already been preordered. I think they said that most places aren't getting enough copies to deal with the demand, so I'll have to wait a week or two later to get it :(

well if you look on the poster for gta sa it says "pre-order now and avoid the dissapointment"

which is totally true. all of the stores here are getting the exact number of pre-orders.

glad i paid for mine in full.

also a new bit of info which i thought people might like is quoted below.

After the online multiplayer rumors were shot down by Rockstar, new ones emerged from magazines stating there will be a two-player, co-operative mode. We now have more information on this rumor.

SPOnG.com visited Rockstar offices yesterday for a demonstration of San Andreas, and they decided to pursue these multiplayer rumors. After hearing the same lines from Rockstar reps about no multiplayer functionality, they did manage to pay close to attention to the game and are able to bring us this new info:

There will, however, be a dedicated co-operative mode for two players. During the game, a scene ensues when the player rescues a girl from a burning building. After this act of gallantry, she becomes your in-game girlfriend and also, a playable second character. Most of the co-op action takes place inside vehicles, with player one driving and player 2 shooting. When the co-op mode is opened, icons will display the missions available to two player on the game's map.

What's more, a plethora of two-player minigames will be included in San Andreas. Unfortunately SPOnG has no specific details regarding these right now, though we can confirm that various parlour games will be included.
- SPOnG

To sum it up:

* Dedicated two-player experience for a second player to join in.
* CJ will rescue a girl from a burning building, they engage in a relationship and the girl will be playable (probably using second controller).
* Co-operative features include one person driving and the other shooting, and a range of other mini-games.
* When co-operative mode is enabled, icons will display two-player missions on the map.

That means a whole new playing experience, with co-operative mode for a second person to join in! Add this to the already existing information about the huge state and three cities and I think Rockstar has gone beyond anything we were expecting.
