F.E.A.R. SP Demo Tomorrow!

Just got done playing it. Absoloutely frickin awesome! The action is some of the coolest I've played in a game. Sparks and bits of rubble flying everywhere while I tear an enemy in half with a shotgun blast really is a sight to behold. The enemy AI is also the best I've seen in any game to date. They properly take cover and shoot you, they'll use grenades wisely to try and flush you out, they'll go prone under low objects and they'll efficiently try and get away from your grenades. For example I threw a nade into a room with a guy in it, and rather than doing the regular old run away trick - the guy rolled out of the rooms god damn window! In similar situations I've seen them jump over low walls to evade grenades aswell. Really awesome stuff!

Oh and *SPOILER*the bit where you climb down the ladder, and the girl is in front of you as the camera changes REALLY scared me*SPOILER*

I'm going to play some more. I'll be sure to let you know if my opinion changes

I played it. It was fun. Seems a lot like Rid****. Though in my opinion, the "slow motion" aspect of FPS is becoming too cliche.

Unlike a lot of games though, the slow motion effect is pulled off well in FEAR. Infact, I'm willing to say that it's the best I've seen it implemented in a game.

Played it and it ran like crap; 2.6 gig, 512 mb of ram and a Radeon 9800 couldn't run this game at 640x480 without chopping every second or two. When it DID ran good for a sec or so, I noted how fun it was to play...but then it stuttered again.

recommended ram is 2 gb...no wonder it runs like crap
radeon 9800 is expected (on a good pc) to run with a average 30-60 fps

AWESOME! The game auto set my graphics to 1024/768 with everything on high and it ran like a dream. This game is going to be sooooo good. They seems to have put a lot of work into it and over all it feels very polished.

Same here, everything on high(1024x768), it worked like a charm.

And JLN I agree, that part was freaky and REALLY caught me off guard.

Just played the demo. I usually avoid horror games, but FEAR appealed to me for some reason. The demo was pretty short, but hella freaky.

The bit JLN mentioned caught me totally off guard as well. Not to mention the mass-hallucination near the end of the demo....

I tried it out. The game looks like **** on my mid-range computer. Everything looks like plastic and I'm getting around 5 fps.........

*SPOILER*I loved the way that they scared you, and as you try to go down the ladder to get away you run right into that freaky cannibal guy! I threw my mouse I jumped so high *SPOILER*

same settings as Hsu, almost everything on full. finished the demo, it was... AWSOME!!!

i loved how almost all of it was action, but now and again, there would just be.... something not quite right, hard to describe, but after the first few area's, almost everything is creepy... when i walked past air vents, i could usually see something weird, or there would be a strange light, or... just something odd, everywhere. it was incredible, and very intense.

I kinda agree with alea about the "bullet time" feature. but the way theyve done it in this game, is absolutely superbe. in that it isnt really a "time slow" its just that your using your hightened senses, and as your senses get better (i found 2 powerups?) you can see more, your reflexes are a little better, you can start seeing people behind obsticles, and other such things. not to mention, you can see the shockwaves from grenades... that was awsome

The demo was alright, I can pretty much figure out why all those odd moments happened. Most likely it had to do with your characters past. Reminds me of Max Payne when you had the flash backs. Too bad not one first person game focuses on hand to hand combat. The only thing you can do is hit guys with your gun (Whoop di do. Area 51 was a lot better since you can repeatedly smash an opponent really fast).

The horror was not really scary, just strange that they would add something like that. The action was far better than I expected same goes with the A.I.

Performance (Slow even on high end machines): 4/10
Overall: 7/10

Erm, you can pull off sliding kicks, a bicycle kick and a jumping round house kick aswell. You can also holster your weapon if you're feeling brave and use a few punch attacks.

Oh I blew them off with a land mine . I have complete blown a person apart with them. Arms, legs and head all rolling around.

this game is simply incredible. i mean, theres so much it has to offer!!! i wonder how modable it is?ive played this demo over and over and over, and it just doesnt get boring XD new ways to kill people all the time! (i like going into slowmo, and then bicicle kicking someone over a rail )

did anyone else have fun killing that guy in the uber heavy "bullets dont hurt me f00" armour?
