Since bugs are always inevitable, I'd say it's best to do 2 smaller phases. Just releasing a final build and not making any type of update to fix the bugs, especially if they're game breaking, will be a bad choice. If anything, I'd probably agree most with what the 2nd poster said.

They have a whole team of betatesters doing what, three to eight hours a week testing it. I don't think they need our help that much finding bugs.

...and yet bugs still get through. I think the 2 phase idea would actually eliminate most if not all of the bugs in the game as once they release phase 2, it should have all the bug-fixes that people find from phase 1.

I dont think you are right on that Hurracane.
In the end it doesnt matter because the end result will be the same.
If it happens in 2, 3 or just in 1 phase the result will be the same.

The team is very active solving loads of bugs and doing all kinds of test cases.
And with team I mean not only the beta testers but also the people working on it.
