Doom 3 Info

there is one thing i still dont know, is there gonna be a demo of d3.
i dont by a pc game unless i played somewhere or played the demo.
so is there one or not?

i dont own the game yet ... it's coming here in stores 14th august ><
but i've played painkiller before and that's a scary game as well ! i just get all into the game when im playing. pretending im the char walking there and stuff... that's the way how you can get the most fun out of a game. and THATS what game creators tend to do with their games. having fun.
doom 3 was created to be like a horror movie and as i've read all these posts they succeeded pretty damn much in doing that hehe ^^
so now it's time to wait till 14th august.. maybe i can order it at our local pc store.. wich im going to do right now hehe. at least im gonna try...

Damn straight. I just played it for like three hours last night--I'll only play it after dark. I got to a part that was so freaky and weird I decided to leave it for the day time. lol

What makes it cool is the way the situation happens. You really get immersed, you really feel like you are that guy.

I immerse my self in games, but the thing is even with realistic shading i doubt they could scare you, cause its doubtful the marine himself was scared.

Anyways, the only games i have been scared on were resident evil the dam zombie jumping from the closet by the journal. The final is Painkiller the asylum lvl is beyond freaky, look on the ceiling have zombies falling and jumping at you, then u have the exploding electric patients. Immersing ur self is one thing but i have only seen suprise scare's so far.

If u would like some pics of the asylum level by all means ask ^^. But sorry to anyone i offended and nice comback boyster =P.

In Doom, you feel like you ARE the dude.

I found a room with some DX9-rich walls of moving flesh. And I just shined my flashlight on it for like ten minutes, going, "that the **** IS that ****?" the same way the dude probably would have. I do the same thing with a lot of the other things in the game, too. I shine flashlights in people's faces, etc.

I just really love the immersion part. I haven't jumped or freaked out yet, but I'm playing it on easier settings--I have plenty of ammo. There have been a lot of rooms that just ****ed with me, though.

That irrational fear of the dark that you have as a kid is coming back to haunt me.

EDIT: A friend and I were talking, and we noticed that a lot of our anime friends think the game is dumb. So now, I don't expect anyone who is overly into anime to like Doom 3. Our only guess is that the idea of demons as effeminate cat men with furry swords and silly facial expressions has probably really dilluted the concept of what true HELL could really possibly be like, and thus made anything that is demonic in nature completely unintimidating and kawaii.

If they could honestly form a true demon looking monster, i might find it interesting but as it stands its just a graphical marvel to me but thats jut my opinion to each their own. ill post the pics momentarily im tired from work lol.

Alright dude...sorry, but...saying that the things in Doom 3 don't look straight out of hell is just pure bias.

It'd be like someone going in and say that the aliens in HL2 don't look enough like aliens for them to be taken them seriously.

Holy ****. I just got the new 4.9 Catalyst drivers and my doom 3 improved so much, I was able to set it to high on 800x600. So long as I use the texture fix in the config, it runs rather enjoyably well.

just wondering, what changes graphically in the jump from medium to high setup? i know there are pictures about somewhere, but for some reason i cant view them. Im gonna be building a new pc before the uk release, and just wanted to know if the difference is enough for me to go all out on this new pc.

Holy ****. I just got the new 4.9 Catalyst drivers and my doom 3 improved so much, I was able to set it to high on 800x600. So long as I use the texture fix in the config, it runs rather enjoyably well.

What could you run it on before? I'm interested because I'm worried that I won't be able to run the thing at anything but low res and low settings, and I aint getting an upgrade before the 13th. Also, what's this texture fix thing and how much does it help the fps?

Doom3 is doom.

Only people that are gonna be dissapointed are people that are expecting it to be different. It's just a remake of the original doom with some beautiful graphics and atmosphere to increase the 'scare' factor.

Doom loves to stick the the simplicity... the fun of gaming. And wants to scare you. They never advertised it as anything but a beautiful game that will scare the crap out of you.

And that's what it accomplishes... shame on you for thinkn it'd be something other than that

This game is ****ing amazing, there is no other way to put it. I don't have much of a scare gland myself, and have only jumped once or twice, but the game is major fun. People that don't like it need to pull Gabe Newell out of their ass, HL2 isn't going to be the ONLY ground-breaking game this year. You can't deny that this is a great game, the graphics are amazing, the engine is phenomenal, I didn't think I would be able to run the game at MEDIUM, let alone medium at 45 FPS.
But Ultima is right, the game was never advertised for it's engine (even though amazing things will be developed on it), it's always been about it's scare factor and amazing graphics. HL2 was advertised for it's Havok physics engine, and all the great mods from HL1.

People needa stop saying "HL2 > DOOm3" or "Doom3 > HL2"

Because they are gonna be 2 totally different games. Not something that should be compared.

Me... personally. I'm big on HL2. But i'm not going to go off and say d3 "suxz0rs" because it's not HL2. It's two different games trying to stimulate 2 different parts of the brain.

In the end... I've bought doom3.. and i'm gonna be buyin HL2.
