Tien Flash

As a matter of fact, it isn't!!!

I first saw that flash animation about a year ago while looking for dbz videos on the internet. Pretty funny stuff actually hahaha.

notice how such a simple thing as animated clothing covers up the suttle rigidness of the dull, otherwise basic looping 30 frame animation, its worth trying.
Yeah it really does look much more "lively", so to say. Isn't that a coincidence, tho? I made a simillar idle sequence :p

AS THE ORIGINAL VOLUNTEER, HE IS ENTITLED TO MAKE THE ANIMATION HIMSELF

I just did the SECOND version of ref_autopunch. I'm saying second because, as I mentioned before, according to the news pics with android 18 that I saw some time ago, there are TWO autopunches (when the opponent blocks it and when the opponent gets hit by it) This one is the one when the opponent gets hit by it:



ref_autopunch_2 (I guess you should call it like that, I dunno really... :confused:) Neways, sorry for not posting any animations today, it's been a busy day... had to study a lot... but don't worry I'll give my best and try not to let it interfere too much with my progress :)

What can I say? There comes a time when u just gotta make a balance between this and your education =\ I know it sux, but... what ya gonna do? Neways, take care and thanks for your support and suggestions.

you dont have to do any advance melee anims andy =o its going to be revamped for 1.3

Sigh... here we go again... :S Look, I know what I saw. They said prepunch/autopunch animations were going to be included. I'm not gonna do combos or bottom or left or right or top punches/kicks. I've just done the 2 versions of autopunch that the ESF team is obviously gonna use!!! I know what I saw! It was on the ESF news, and it showed how Android 18 was autopunching Trunks:

1.- The first autopunch anim was when Trunks was taking the hits.

2.- The second one was when Trunks was blocking.

Regarding the advanced melee in pics you've seen, they're new models on the old 1.2 melee system. I'm not sure how much I can say but the answer (and the reason) is in the Force Pit.

Yeah, but... I just don't get it. Why would they actually put autopunch (BOTH VERSIONS) of a character that is for 1.3, just to show what would it look like in 1.2.X? It doesn't make any sense! :p Look just put the second autopunch version just in case and we'll see, k?

Well, everyone who is on the team, a beta tester or in the forcepit knows that there is no auto pre-punch in 1.3. They are still currently working on the melee system as we speak. The wanted to make sure the models worked well and there was no flaws so they put it in 1.2.3. If you are still curious as to whats happening with 1.3, get 5 dollars and donate it to the esf team so you can get forcepit access.

i wouldnt blindly just tell you theres no autopunching.. and those pics are pretty old

The models were probably rigged with 1.2's skeletons so the team could show us what they looked like in-game.

EDIT: HERE'S A THOUGHT: In any ESF server u go, or ANY OTHER Half-Life game, for that matter, MAKE A LOGO WITH ONE OF THE TIEN TAGS, EDIT IN PAINT AND ADD THE THREAD ADDRESS AND TYPE IN THAT WE NEED ANIMATORS!!! USE THE LOGOS CONSTANTLY! :) That way, we might as well get a good grip at talented animators in the Half-Life gaming universe :yes:!

Andy, I promise you, as an esf team member, none of the advanced melee anims will be required, no prepunch either. If you really want to make him work for 1.2 thats up to you as long as you dont release the model publicly. Just so you know, animations work in 1.3 based on the order they are given, not the name. Im also sorry about the lack of people helping you out with the animating, thing is, not many people actually animate around here, and most people who do animate in the mod world (in general), want to move onto hl2 work or other superior engines. Not only that but you have to take into account other people have other commitments, i'd love to get tien in 1.3 myself but i'd also like to succeed in my eduction, work on my portfolio, work on projects and socialise with my friends, alot of other people are in the same boat(or somewhat similar). Im sorry, but thats the way it is, thats why the tien project has died 3 or 4 times already. A big thanks to you though, for putting so much time and effort in =] you've done well to do so many nice animations, its a shame all the anims from the previous tien revivals are gone :(. I must say though that some of your anims are a little static, and if I were you I'd make the idle animation more than 1 frame, you could make him look like he's breathing at least. It'd be nice to see more bone movement for the clothing too, if you could see the current 1.3 models ingame you'd be amazed how much little things like that really bring the models to life.
