thx basslover, anyways for the textures and the ability to make a .wad or add textures to an existing one, all you need to do is get a program called wally, which you can locate here:

Just scroll a little down on the page to find the link to wally for downloading.

Well HL aint exacly Q1 its Q2 (modified).

Also that still doesnt go past hammer. Since you cant make anything bigger than [4096,4096] to [4096,4096]

No, HL is a heavily modified Q1 engine.

In fact, HL2 is still a heavily modified Q1 engine, despite Valve's reports that HL2 is "from-scratch."

well yes you can make a sky texture using wally, but all you really need to do is add hl.wad to your texture usage list for hammer, if you know what I mean, at tools, options, textures, then click on "add WAD" then you just search for hl.wad in the root hl directory, there you have it.

Then when in your map just select the 4 brushes outlining your map(the ones that will be sky tex.) then just select texture tool and type in "sky" at browse and it'll be a small light blue block, that's it.

Yea Ive been becoming smarter at mapping and also I don't have hl.wad thats the bad thing! PLease can someone send me the HL.wad I need it bad. Also ive got a new map i wasn't really gonna release this cause it is a piece of crap. :p

edit: im thinking of calling it esf_1minute_remains so check it!

Looking at that picture ima tell you. The r_speeds will be horrible ^^

And i told you. You dont need hl.wad and yes you have it. Its only packed into a GCF file.

Just get me on MSN and ill send you the file taht contains the sky texture. My MSN mail is in my profile ^^

Oh well umm im just testing some stuff so i don't know if thats gonna be really bad but how do i check the major stuff of rmy map like r_speeds and polys because ive heard there is a poly limit?

Heres a good idea how bout you send it to me via e-mail cause i can't get to you on msn. But aim is possible though and you can send me files through that.

My AIM is also in my profile.

And r_speeds refer to the wpoly number ingame. Its the number of world polygons you see at once. You can only chek them from ingame im afraid ^^

Damn well im going to do re-construction of the map i have crazy idea but if doesn't work don't smash it like a mirror like the one the movers did to my sisters mirror. <.< JK Im getting some photos up later.

For some reason that map kinda reminds me of the old map, Killbox, for 1.1. Its was fairly small, so gameplay was fast and furious, hence the name killbox...I guess.

Hey guys a little update on the new map. I quit the training room cause it probably wouldn't go well. So here is some pics of
1minute_remains: I hope my idea goes wel cause i made the lava the entity trigger_hurt but if i did that will it still end up looking like water when it's in game. I don't know if i should fill in master for the entity? flowing lava is what i meant.

edit: New stuff just raised the floor so the lava is in a kinda crevice.

OK i have 2 crits. Fisrt if you want flowing lava youll need func_conveyor

Second that lava pillar looks more like a suport for the ceeling. Especialy with those hard edges. Why don you make it with triangles.

Wow thanks so is it possible to have multiple entity's to a object cause i want it to hurt. For water also there is a an entity called water someting i forget.

No one entity per object.

But thats where the fun of mapping comes in. Make one solid with the real textures as func_conveyor.

Make a copy of that and apply the texture NULL to it. That will make it invisible ingame. Tie the copy to func_water and set it as lava (default is water).

Now make the first object passible. That way it wont act as a wall and it woill only show textures where the copy will do the actual hurting.

Stuff like thet is only the begining of what you can do. Remember the destructable buildings thing or the btl_storm lightnings.

There are loads of things you can do. Heck you can make the map kill everyone with the toutch of a button (or every 3 minutes if you wish ^^)

haha, I've made a map like that, my early beach_tourny map, the one that never got released because of trees going black, remember? awww...I thought you would :(

Anyways, do what he says, because func_water really causes lag if the texture size is too small or if the brush is very large, so it's alot of rendering which equals more work and lag. Oh and btw if you want yur func_conveyor to work, just edit the texture's name in wally if you have it and rename it to something like scrolllava, there has to be the 'scroll' part to make it move like a type of conveyor.

OK sounds good and you know grega your in my mind. I remember a map in half life called crossfire or something wher it kills everyone with a nuec. that what i would do for this map because you guesssed it its a map of namek at it's last minute. That would be cool for that kinda of map. like it blowing up every 10 or 5 minutes. I will keep reading what you guys have posted so it sinks in and i can start mapping it again. :D

@grega: You know lighting would be fun. >D Muahahaha!

@donnie: do i really need to name the texture again.........*grrrr.......anyways also im confused that my textures are being *** like i make a moutaing or something and it doesn't do the texture the way i want it. I'll show you.

That thing about the map utterly destroying everyone every few minutes might be a little silly, but who knows, I haven't played in a map like that, maybe it's fun. ^^
