Haha. That sucks. My school rocks... not only do they give us obscene amounts of free time (How can it be legal?) but they let us do anything we want on the computer. They have a few pathetic excuses for restrictions set, but basically if you have two IQ points to rub together and any experience with computers, you can bypass them. And once you do that, you've earned the right to do whatever you want. Teachers walk by, watch, even talk to you about what game you're playing on bored.com. Life is good.

Well, by going to an institution, you agree to abide by their rules... if it's really bothering you, explain your situation to someone higher-up if you feel they could be sympathetic to it.

My school only blocked certain sites, like somethingawful.com... so my friend just ran an HTTP proxy off his home computer and we all used that.

As for security/monitoring programs, my school used this ancient program called Fortres. It was horrible. I brought in a boot disk, kicked into dos, renamed the program executable so it couldn't load when Windows started. Then, I copied the executable and brought it home. My friend and I modified it's code so that it would accept anything in the "password" field for the admin panel. (This is when I was just learning how to crack, but it wasn't all that difficult)

Then we brought it back, and I replaced the EXE on my computer (in programming class) with the cracked one. After rebooting, I could turn off the keylogger and crap they had running. I never did anything bad though, I just don't like having my keystrokes recorded.
