Great my school is getting stingier and stingier(sp?) with what sites I can visit there. Its getting to the point of retard-ness. They finally looked at the sites I was visiting and blocked www.esforces.com and other webhosting services (cant post cause they will think I advertise).

What gets even worse is the BULL that they block these sites for. There is nothing I can download that I could use here. There is nothing I can use for fun value (besides these forums; talk about how I got here later). They blocked for reason: "Entertainment".

These schools are getting more stupid by the minute, but they arent the smartest people sitting up there. :)

Q:"Just how is he posting from school if the websense is blocking it?"
A:Well, www.esforces.com is blocked, but http://forum.esforces.com/ isnt

Q:"How did you figure this out?"
A:Well, its a long story. I was going to this one website, and the www.url.com was blocked (url can be anything). Wierd thing though, the url.com wasnt blocked.

Q:"Do you hate this?"
A:Yes, and no. I love showing my smarts around stuff.

You think that bad??? My computer teacher can contraol my computer and look at what I'm doing. I use to be able to play ESF in the class room, but now I can't due to a smaller hardrive partition.

Looks like I forgot to mention that.

FIX: Alt+ctrl+del and find InterClass or something like that. That is the program that does that ****, end that task and put it in its grave.

They can blank out our screens, show us thiers, and lock out our mouses. That is nothing new.

Yea.......I had to deal with alot of this crap back in high school, ESF being a site that was blocked.

But then.....The Computer Club would play Starcraft and a Multitude of HL mods(Primarily CS and TFC) in a lan setting every tuesday.

We didn't play ESF though........with good reason. ESF is my guilty pleasure....also it wasn't done back then. When I was still in the Club. I wasn't last year, my senior year.

I think that if the website is not dangerous (which ESF isn't), it shouldn't be blocked.

See, I have the best and worst of both worlds here at work. I get a lot of extra freedom...but my ******* father is the network admin and can see just about everything I do or say. I'm friendly with the other tech, so they haven't banned things like comcast yet, as a favor to me. They see ESForces.com all the time in the list, though. hehe.

EDIT: At your school's campus, banning **** is one thing. But people who are like "wtf my tehcer sed no efs in clas room wtf gya dumb!!!11!!eleven!!11!!!" are just stupid. You're in class to do work. You can't very well expect the teacher to not mind if you wanted to download a 110 meg game on the school's bandwidth and computer, install it, and play it during class. That's just preposterous.

Whats so wrong with it?
They block sites that aren't educational, which they should be doing. Its school, as far as their concerned, the use of their resourses is to be for educational purposes only. I don't see anything wrong with it, and I dont see why you need to post on the forums during school o_o.

What do you expect in a learning environment? You're not exactly paying for their inernet service, so they can do/block whatever they want.

My problem is the administrator at my school, who blocks all sorts of ports on the residence internet. I have to pay for residence and costs of internet are included in that fee, and he goes and blocks online games and IRC, I hate the internet at school.

Alas, I may sound stiff, but school is for school and since those computers are not yours they do have the right to choose what you see. ESF is not very educational except for increasing your hand-eye cordination. The bottom line is that using their computers is a privilage and one that should not be taken so lightly.

we should immidiatly annihilate people who forbid us to see www.esforces.com!

who's with me!

anyway, there are some things blocked on the PC's at my school aswell. but thats mostly systems configuration.. sites are fully accesable as far as I know. but that might be because i'm at a university. not some sort of high-school where people mess about ;)

Heh, I haven't had a computer course for awhile at my high school, but the last one I had, the teacher let you do whatever you wanted. You could play flash games all period for all he cared, but if you were one to do that and managed to turn in an assignment a day late... well, you didn't want to be around him. =P

dude. if ur paying for it, they should not block it. if i had my own computer, paid for internet, and still got everything blocked, i would learn to hack and destroy all the programs on those computers!

well, if they end up blocking the forums url, just tell me and i will make a redirection:D. I hate when schools do that, thank god im homeschooled:D. And i suggest clearing the history after you get off. [so they dont know what sites your looking at]

KWS i know what you mean. the school i used to go to was a private one. and i got introuble for hacking into the computers and offline iming all the computers in school. and i figured out that it records everything you do on the computer and which computer you do it at.... so i learned one thing from all of this... dont use googles search to look at porn :p lol jk or am i?!?!?! anywho there IS a way to get around the blockingness that they did. you dont even have to touch the firewall either. simple just turn off what ever they blocked so say they blocked the website www.esforces.com unblock it. then when your done reblock it. its easier than you think ;)
