This may be a stupid question, but what are the dimensions of that canvas in pixels?

Well, you didn't supply any other information...

Does this happen with any font you use, default Windows fonts included?

A simple Google search gave me this forum post. Sounds like a reinstall helped someone before, and there's a few other solutions in there.

I against? I? bad brains? or just the band I against I? heh =P

Check your character tools (window > character) make sure that the two icons with big "T"'s with different arrow dimentions showing are both at 100%, if they're bigger that's the problem if its not then i have no idea what the problem is

Mine did that before too. It was because I had the Canvas a lot bigger or smaller and then changed the size or something like that. I had a canvas and changed the size and the text stayed the same... restart your Photoshop or open a new document or something. I think i restarted mine and it worked after that.

Change your resolution settings on that pic from (higher then 100 most likely) to 28,346 pixels/cm

That's what makes the difference.

you mean 72 ppi? That's the default resolution. 28,346 is a bit excessive for one cm.
