How about re-implementing targetting to be--the person you last hit with melee is targetted for 30 seconds, unless you hit another person?

You obviously wouldn't need the target to swoop, however, it would let you know who you were fighting, and perhaps cut down on teaming up--because people would KNOW who they were fighting.

Right now, if it's a populated server on a small map, people inadvertently fly into one another on accident--people are just too plain stupid to keep track of their own opponent, plus it's kinda hard in dark maps like Cell night arena.

i love this idea...it takes away from having to click to target and it acctually makes sense with the swoop system

two thumbs up =D

Well, if it targetted them, but didn't lock-on or do anything like that, then I see nothing wrong with it..

Not lock on. Just a target to help you see who you're actually fighting, unless you specifically fight and hit another person.

It sounds great to me, Alea. But I think it'd be way better if you could choose who you target before hand..

A targetting function should be placed to primary fire melee when standing still.... As is, it does nothing until YOU start doing something. If you could place a targetting tag on an opponent with primary fire while standing still, it could make it much easier to engage and enrage said opponent.

I don't think it's a matter of stupidity. The models are small, and when there are more than 10 people in the server, it can get pretty hard to keep track of your target, especially if he's a lively one, or if the map has a bright sky texture... have fun trying to see somoene there. I also use a very high resolution, which might be part of the problem. I like the idea.

And what happens if you're fighting one Goku, and another three crop up? If your dance partner teleports, good luck determining which Goku is the one after your blood.

I actually wanted to get away from targeting....
It takes away a sense of realism.
I voted no, but perhaps I'll support the idea if the targeting box is optional, so it can be turned off in the preferences.
