See i can see where your coming from, but there is two sides of how i feel on that one, The sufferening of people should not be endured, and medicine is needed, but if you think about it, if man hadn't tried to cure things in the first place, or if curiousity hadn't taken it's toll, we wouldn't be in the mess of cancer from smoking, and Car crashes. Now im not saying technology is bad, but to a point it is. Lets just say, i think this way, for every achievement, there is a concequence, a side effect.

call it playing god if you like, but since we are capable of things like this, i think its ok to do it. at the end of the day, yeh they may have become extinct due to one reason or another, but we have the ability to clone things, and we have that knowledge for a reason. all knowledge should be used. and if cloning 1 dinosaur tells us what dinosaurs were really like. im all for it. all we can do is learn :)

and grow a mahoosive army of dino riders to squish the enemies of mankind

yes , but don't think science plays the world's real god , don't want a repeat of science vs religion , "ahh , my bones , i just hope medical science can cure me" - what moe said in that simpsons episode

Science is great, the more we learn, the better our lives become. We live longer, more comfortably, and safely with the help of science. The human brain is our trump card, while other animals can adapt and have other natural advantages, we have our brains, which we use to get ahead in life. We have to use it if we want to survive, consequence or not. Where would we be without the lightbulb, electricity, the phone, etc.. I can tell you where we wouldn't be, we wouldn't be on the internet expressing our freedom of speech over an online community about some recently discovered dinosaur tissue. Smoking isn't really a consequence by the way, since everyone chooses whether they want to smoke or not. Car crashes could be easily avoided if people were responsible enough, don't blame science just becuase some people can't handle it. You have to take some risks in life if you truley want to live.

Unfortunatley, I heard that they can't recover any DNA from that sample, becuase the half-life is too short, but it would be extremely cool to have a cloned T.rex.

thats the wrong reason, the term "half life" refers to how long a radioactive substance will remain active before degenerating, and at what rate it degenerates.

"they died for a reason"
lol, youve shown me a whole new perspective on those infomercials asking for money to feed starving children overseas,

in all seriousness though i doubt anything will come of this, as advanced as science is nowadays i honestly dont see them growing a whole living dinosaur from a chunk of a dead one,

did anyone exacly saw jurassic park, the same will hapen if they would do this.
the dont even know what they are up agains, it's a freaking t-rex, not a smal herbefore.
i hope that they are not gonna clone him, the chance of succes is already a 1 on 100000 and if it works then they nead to secure him within 2 months becours a t-rex is already deadly within 2 months.
i admit i would be kwel but there is more in stake than only making something to live after 200 miljoen years, there will be a lot of money in it and dont even forget the security of the human kind.
i say keap it in dna, knowing about things by researching it is good but keap it by reseach.

maybe that's where valve got the name from

when u think of it , they probably will find more stuff where ever they find it , history is always changing , someone puts into detail what had happend in a tradgety and then something is found to change that whole story

dude, this is kinda off topic, but i just had to scroll my entire 1024x768 resolution to read your post, and its cos of your friggin sig... sort it out!

and as for the JP scenario, i can see where your coming from, but at the end of the day, they would only be cloning 1 dinosaur, not an entire eco system. and i personally would find it fascinating to unleash a rex into africa, and see exactly how it behaves... would it be a scavenger as theorised by some? or would it quickly dominate the food chain?

then theres looks, was it really reptilian in apearance? or was it more bird like? how did it walk? its behaviour in certain situations... id LOVE to know. heck id go as far as to say id want to be personally involved in the project just to find out, dangerous or not, thats the risk youve got to take... and sure 1 t-rex is capable of a lot of damage, but if theres only 1, and its kept under supervision properly, theres no need for it to get out of hand. (can anyone say rocket propelled grenades?)

Africa? What the hell can it eat there? Let it lose in Manchester.

I think it would be cool to grow them as big as Veloceraptors and have them act as a 'strike force' for the army. Like Saibamen.

that, and t-rex werent as smart as raptors, why not just clone a group of raptors instead? o_O

and i was more interested in learning how a rex would behave in an environment similar to how it used to live. so africa would probably be most suited. dont you think it would be cool to see an elephant get killed by something other than a man with a gun? (man are elephants only natural predators). or even see something big enough to be able to look a giraffe in the face before it breaks its neck like a twig hehe

Lol, I guess that would sufficiently rock. As long as it was broadcast on global TV.

I was just thinking, Elephants and Tigers are reaching the zone known as 'rare species-to-extinction' but Manchester is full of chavs that are multiplying daily. I guess i'd like to play God with the ecosystem a bit.

ENGLAND is plagued by chav's lets just spray them with some kind of t-rex angryfying hormone, and sit back and watch (being sure to spray ourselves with something rex's are scared of, or at the very least, weild big swords/guns/tanks/mobile suits)

Sounds like a plan. A highly lucrative plan but a plan none-the-less. To be honest I wouldn't be too put out if I got eaten along with three-hundred-thousand chavs, it would be my sacrifice for the good of the world. Of course, not getting eaten is good too.

Am I the only one who thinks some scientist will steal the t-rex or its DNA, and clone it like 10 times bigger or something o_O
Anyways, I guess 1 rex is fine... but I doubt that people will create something that will just... die :S

So basically, all the english people, want to let loose a T-Rex into their backyard...and these are the people who discovered my country. I say let it loose on your queen, A T-Rex would enjoy royal meat.

With petrol prices escalating at their current rate, a rideable, tame Rex would make the ideal method of transport, and it works two ways, not only is it cheap and reliable, but if someone cuts you off you can rip his ass off.

Mini one's would be cool, but they're impractical, other than letting it loose in your sisters room while she's sleeping, or getting rid of a roach infestation. maybe you could parachute them out of the back of planes into enemy territory and watch them squirm! Hmm...actually a Rex-Launcher sounds good, make sure you rig it so their mouths are always open.

You know what, these Rex's are good for nothing but war, lets just unleash em into Iraq and be done with it.

We could feed criminals to the T-Rex's, and criminal babies to the mini-Rex's.

And for the record we don't have a monarchy, unless the meaning of the word monarchy has been changed to 'unelected German spongers who ponce around in solid gold carriages while people die of hunger outside their palaces.' I looked it up on Wikipedia, but that was not the definition I found.
