need help with a missing file for ESF

i was reading the faqs in the other forum that said you need to download VBRun60.exe.
for win98 users i did that.
i'm useing esfbeta11.exe and after i unziped vbrun60 in both cl_dll and dll folders.

now im geting can't get dll api!
i don't want to play online so i'm trying older one.
becuase i read a topic that you don't need steem to play offline.
whats the name of this file??
i looked for api.dll on www.dll-files.com there a few dll files name api.
what one do i need??

the vb runtime libary doesnt needs to be in any of that folders... you just need to install the libaries >_>
also, even if we do not support the old won halflife version in esf anymore it should still run (only with a few glitches .. like no alpha transparency on map models n such)
if youre using esf 1.1 offline then dont forget to install bots ... in 1.2 and following versions theyre already included (dont try to install other bots over 1.2.x ... )

can't get DLL API!

im geting that everytime i open ESF.
you don't think the bots thing will fix it do you???
everytime i open ESF it runs thro some comands, and then it gives me that.
and close's.

where can i find the file it wants??
i download the vb runtime and open it.
did it a few time's realy.lol
i always get the same thing=/
befor that it said it couldn't find client.dll
but i found that one in hafe life's folder.
and copyed and pasted it into the folder

i'm a big dbz fan,and this is the only dbz mod my pc can play(
cuase my pc can't play Q3A.
but hafe life will play. and Q1 & 2 but there no dbz mods i can find for them=/
so please help me out

im have a simaler problem with dll files every time i try to play i get this error cold not load library client.dll im trying to get esfbeta11s.exe working

As far as I know, that problem means just that. It can't find your game dlls. Either they're not in the folder, or your liblist.gam file isn't pointing the engine in the right place (that shouldn't be the case, unless you were editing it for some reason).

However, you're trying to use WON to play (the default way you'd normally play through Half-Life) which is a dead network. Download Steam and create an account with your Half-Life CD key. You'd then use Steam to play Half-Life and your mods.

I'm guessing installing Steam would probably fix your problem (because I'm thinking a reinstall would, and you'd be installing ESF for Steam once you set it up), but if not, you'll have more support with Steam if the problem returns.

thank :laff: s so how do i us steam i have hl2 but i did not buy silver or gold so im using my dusty old hl O_O

click on browse games in steam and then on register a product i already own .. enter your hl cd key and download halflife (1) through steam.
esf doe not work with halflife-source anyways
