Did you install the MP3 player when you installed ESF (click the little check box)?

Try downloading and playing ESF again. Check to see if your regular MP3 players cause your system sound level slider to change, if that's the case (like MusicMatch Jukebox) then turn up your sound in there.

I have downloaded esf from, many different sites and installed it numorous times, and checked all my mp3 players, turned it up, and uninstalled alot of them too, yet steam still has no sound whenever theres a playlist.txt in the mp3 folder

This is full of too many bumps. I will fix this problem.

Chekc to see if your "mp3" are "mp3"

Second: <--Do this first (jus to see if your paying attention)
Delete ALL the words in your playlist.txt
Then save.
Then open your playlist editor.
Re-enter your music.
Save.
