People think that if we were to suddenly have a time machine, we could just go to the past, kill Hitler, and everything will be done. I don't think that's how it works. There just might be several billion alternate time lines, all of which we may theoretically be able to alter, but none of which would affect our own time line. Perhaps an alternate time line is just now catching up to WW2. Perhaps an alternate time line is composed of peaceful humans who have gone an entirely separate route from what we know of our own history.
The past is the past and the future has yet to happen. Right? Maybe not. If everything is happening at once, then there is only now and the idea of time travel is ludicrous. Maybe black holes are capable of transporting us to our own past or future. Or maybe they'd just spit us out 4 billion light years away or maybe you'll wake up on a golf course wondering what the hell just happened.
The fact of the matter is we just don't know. Studying 5 years worth of physics may give you more insight and allow you to formulate better or slightly more plausible theories, but you're sure as hell not going to have all or even half of the answers. Sometimes it takes the mind of someone who hasn't been tainted by science and who's imagination can take them to the end's of the universe to open our eyes when it comes to certain things.
Personally, I like reading other people's ideas and theories when it comes to this field because every so often someone says something so crazy, that it makes sense, and I try to integrate the idea into my own theory.
