Grega and Cuc are quite correct. This is not a matter of hypocrisy, but, merely, a matter of the AUP not being updated to reflect something that was brought to light by our host after the last version of the AUP was submitted and posted. Ie: the AUP is out of date. By extension, the "Condensed Forum Rules" page, which is, simply, a summary of the AUP, is also outdated.
As far as more "mature" topics go (specifically, the aforementioned political and war-based threads, as well as, unfortunately, the "pedophile book" thread), we have been intentionally lenient for quite a long time, now, because of the generally low activity here, as well as the fact that the regular userbase here is maturing. We have not specifically ruled these threads out because they are subject to our interpretation of the AUP. This stands in stark contrast to the linked marijuana threads which the host has, clearly, decided not to permit. Whether or not that is deemed fair, this person is the host. He requires neither our permission or our approval in ensuring that we adhere to the TOS. We simply just have to adhere to the TOS. That's all there is to it.
