I think its pretty simple. Since Microsoft windows is very popular and pretty simple but not too cheap there is 2 things can try to do to make a real revenue out of this deal: 1) Trying to make the OS better, like more features, smarter and more efficient system power usage(RAM, CPU MHZ, maybe supporting MORE than 3.5 RAM Gigabyte and not like this windows xp 32 bit ****ty 3.5 RAM GB)

As well the key to make this deal right they need to:
1) Make an equal/better quality OS, if equal they MUST decrease price for the OS
2) Smart, strategic advertising

That is in my opinion anyhow

All germans suck because they kill jews daily! That's basically what you're saying.
Yeah, 2 is the new 10. I forgot about that.

And yes, the point of my post was that Germans kill Jews. Thanks for pointing out the obvious.

Did you just Godwin a thread on speculation over a Google OS? Either way, the OS debate probably isn't that important to this thread. It's a thing of preference, people have different preferences, consider different things user friendly, etc...

Is it my fault you used a ten year old computer two years ago? Only the very first generation of iMacs were released with the retarded one-button-mouse (this year is the tenth anniversary of the iMac). Anything after that came with two buttons (just like every other default mouse) and later three buttons (more than any other default mouse).. Unless of course you can't figure out the system in which you only -see- one complete piece of plastic and not realise that the whole thing is pressure-sensitive rather than having different visually individual buttons.

Besides, the Apple-logo isn't where you start, you can't do **** up there other than shutting down the computer and all that jizz and finding system information. The Apple-logo on top just covers anything directly related to the computer and the OS, but not the applications or documents or anything else.

And to make a relevant post: as Skizer said, people complained about Microsoft being able to monitor anything happening on your computer with Vista. If the creator of the world's most horrible and suspicious browser add-on (GoogleBar) would make an OS, I'm pretty sure nobody would be happy to actively go and test it, apart from the gimmick-lovers.

I think by the release of this browser Bill Gates will challenge Dr. Eric E. Schmidt(the Google CEO by wikipedia) for a duel of Kung Fu to the death, the winner shut downs his browser, who knows, maybe even the company.

Why fight with products and prices when you can fight with your fists?:D

You will earn more money if you kill the competition in 1 day(literally) instead of a long pricing battle.

A Google OS, wasn't one already in the works, called Google Android? Or was that an OS specifically for mobile phones?

Edit: Yeah it's for mobile phones, but knowing Google, they will probably expand it at some time in the near future and release it for PC's and Mac's.

I bet when they do come out with a Google OS (and I'm sure they will), it will be very internet-based (look at Google Chrome's app shortcuts and you'll see what I mean - integration of the internet and the desktop). Google is all about cloud computing, and I'm sure they'll do it right.

OS X a lot more userfriendly than any Windows so far. The only problem is that Windows was mainstream since the start (or with the intention to), while Apple kept focusing on graphical work, and thus Windows has had a head start on the PC market since day 1. Therefor, people grow up with Windows, schools teach in Windows, people use Windows at home. But if you sit down to just use OS X for a while and not think of Windows, you'll see it's a lot easier to use and to find stuff.

Though nobody wants to learn new stuff and afterall, U NO PLAY GAMEZ ON MAC?? WTFUX
After working on macs for graphics and 3d work I can honesty say PCs are better at what macs are ment to do, in mac maya snapping tools crash, and in mac photoshop you cant scroll blending modes (in anyway that is half as easy on a PC), theres heaps more little down sides aswell those are just two that pop into mind.

i could see a nifty feature being something like:

in windows vista, instead of having a "run" interface, you simply type it into the start menu at the bottom, and it searches your machine.

would be cool if you could type whatever you're looking for there, and it googled it =o
