Hello all,

I've decided to start writing/drawing comics. All comics will eventually be posted on my website once I finish it, so I'm putting them on Facebook for now:
http://www.facebook.com/HittingTreesWithSticks

If you like them, be sure to hit "like" :)

"Awkwardness-Time Relationship"

"Please Recycle"

"Le GPS"

Hey guys, still having a bit of trouble with image downsizing. This is the best I can do.
Enjoy :)

"Fitting In"

"Superwoman"

"Typical Impossible-to-follow Instruction Manual"

"Thinking out loud"

Hey Growler.

Those are rather good, you should definitely keep it up. And when you do get a website up, post it here. Btw, last one was still a bit too small to read.

Thanks man! Yeah, actually I was planning on posting a bunch more but photobucket downsized a lot of them... too hard to read.
You can view the rest on that facebook page.

It's also a pretty good name. Hitting trees with sticks. I have a firmly held to theory that you can always tell how good something is based solely on the name.

Do you have any comics that you like or are trying to draw inspiration from? One of my favorite webcomics is amazingsuperpowers, http://www.amazingsuperpowers.com/

Thanks man! I thought about the name for a longgg time.
I describe how I came up with the name on the Facebook page.

I was inspired by:
1) xkcd
2) the oatmeal
3) hyperbole and a half

Hello!

I've made some exciting progress (I think, anyway) since my last update in May, and would like to share it with you.
...as well as my plans for the near future.

Firstly, since creating Hitting Trees with Sticks' Facebook page back in April...
I've created over 50 comics and attracted over 40,000 fans!

Be sure to check it out at: http://www.facebook.com/HittingTreesWithSticks

Secondly, development on HittingTreeWithSticks.com has been slow and steady...
I plan on launching the site once I reach 50,000 fans, which should be around late October of this year.

Below are snapshots of 3 major site updates (circle in red).
1) Searching
2) Categorization of comics
3) Paging

Keep in mind, the site is ugly now as I've only worked on functionality (saving site design for the last leg of development)

Home page.jpg

1) Searching:
Each time you type in a letter, a script compares it against image names in a defined folder, and returns the result in real time.
The result is a thumbnailed image, which you can click on to see in full size!

So here, If I type in 'a', it returns comic titled "Animals.jpg". As long as each letter in the string matches, it returns that result.
On the right, I added a 'k' to it, and it returns "no suggestions".

2) Categorization:
It allows the user to choose which category of comics they would like to see (will be defined later).
For example, if I choose "Graphs" as a category, it would pull images I've defined as "graph" type comics from a folder.
Below you can see I've circled switching categories.

Categories.jpg

3) Pagination:
I'm not going to include another image for it... but if you look above, you can see paging functionality at the bottom...
- Allows you to scroll through pages
- Can go to any page you want, and even jump to last page
- If you choose a category, that will limit the amount of pages to only those comics.

Anyway, those are updates for now. See the below first e-mail in this chain for original updates.

Looking forward to giving you the big update late October when I reach 50,000 fans and go live with my website!

-Dan

Hey Growler! Those are awesome. That's really impressive you've got over 40k+ likes in just a few months. You can probably make some revenue after you launch your website.

Thanks, Ren! Much appreciated.

Yeah, I actually do have a business plan in the works. I think I need to gain a lot more readers first though.
