u can already do that if u dl the amxx plugin,i think it was in 1.0 and 1.1,and it was disabled because they caused lag.

I honestly wish I had the slightest clue what you meant besides a random picture of a beam exploding on the ground.

Which ESF has.

Couldn't that be done with just sending up charge rocks? Possibly with a fading cloud?

In an other hl modification i'v seen this in the Trenchers the grenade explosion was grate and it not had a lag,it culd work in esf when you trow some on in the groung dirt will come out

A sprite is a sprite is a sprite. They all lag the same. Now if youd make it with particles that would LAG

Like the old dust trails of 1.1

you can simply do that with an amxx plugin, so everybody can descide for themselves wether they care or don't care about the "lag" which could be minimized if you don't overdo it.

My Thoughts exactly.

Dust trails were in 1.1, and you can get simlar effects for when you hit walls etc for 1.2.X through a amx plugin. However, I would like to see dust trails back in the game as a gfx option that can be turned on or off by user preference.

It should be possible, just a small particle effect...and it wouldn't lag.
@Grega why should a particle system lag ?

Its like this. There are great numbers in particles = game drops FPS
But when using a sprite ots only 1. Allthough its 2D and doesn't look that good it does not lag.

The aura from FP uses 500 Particles and it don't lag or lowers your fps
Map sprites(env_sprites) can produce lags but not because they are spirtes^^

dude if you have a low pc you will see your fps how low can they get.

actually particles shouldn't be aproblem if they're coded pure clientsided.
