Started working on this model as a base to start my Power Ranger Project for a PC Game along with the design doc for either a HL2 mod or yank my programming buddies ass off school and to make a third person free roaming beat em up.

So far the base helmet is done. Three Smoothing Groups one for Visor, Helmet and Mouth area. Overuse of Polys for Visor and Hinges of Helmet as well as distance between Helmet and mouth area.

426 Tri. I know I know, holy shoobazzle but I can use a lot of polys as the body is very plain.

Tweaks and details to come,

Helmet Reference Pictures Found On Ebay, If you want your own Power Rangers Helmet
refpics just look there, people sell these helmets for like 300!

Questions :
Should I model or Texture the mouth ?
Anyone know the best way to get a nice reflecting visor texture ? Please and Thank you.

cool for a power ranger model, also about the question, if you want to see the lips then model it but if you want to just show the mouth then skin it on

Thank you for your comments.

The Body is Done : Tri Count 2264

More polys could be cut, if I get to a point of desperation afterwards I will but for now I'm content with deformation and so on and the polyflow works perfectly.

As for a PR mod, I had a concept written up a while ago just recently I bloomed it into a full design doc. Wether or not I'll push it into a mod will take quite a bit of consideration but who knows, when you see a Power Rangers Mod or Game at moddb.com , you know I'm there.

Model Done at 2768 Tri :

Helmet & Dragon Shield are seperate so I can trade off between Red Ranger and Helmet For all of them.
I'm going to make a short video with this model to show off my rigging and animation as well.

I'm thinking modelling the character Tommy as well and maybe make a little video of that..hmm but before
I start thinking ahead of myself..Uv Unwrapping, awayyyyyy!!

Too many polys for JKA, so I don't think I'll release this, I got the other set of rangers but I dont know. Gonna
save them for my own stuff, sowwie

either white or green ranger or the ninja ones would be fine as long as it's for JKA

@ Tryforce : I know there's major poly wastage and it would look just as good without em, but truth is it got the feel I needed exactly especially when I start added special diffuse and stuff I want a nice cinematic flow feel during special lighting and it keeps it up to par. I may cut it down when I consider very much to put it in-game but for now it'sa gonna stay, thanks for your crit though

@ Shadownicky : Warning, do not double post, if you need to write something and you already posted, edit, I'll read it and so will everyone else. I don't plan to release for JKA, begging wont help, its a time issue, I own JKA as well so maybe in the far future but as for now, power rangers in JKA isnt my priority.

Updates to come

Last Update for tonight : Base Skin / UV Done.

The morpher isn't done yet, the model is just there right now for placement puposes.
The real morpher will involve more detail ( Texture/Model later on after base completion )

@ Shadownicky : It's not for any game so far, It's just random modelling/texturing practice for fun. If it will be used for any game it will be a Power Ranger oriented mod, not random release for JKA or any other game. Sorry.

@ Mickey : I think I'm gonna try and half/half the skin between realism and cartoon.

It matches to the proportions, I think with a full on skin you'll be able to see that it'll be correct, if not I'll fix it up for the next render

That model is Mighty, like the source material. Keep it up. Let's hope it doesn't Morph into something ****.

Nicee model. Even though it's power rangers that model kicks ass. I don't know how side pics are supposed to look but by the look of the model he doesn't have an ass.
