Faster Than Light -- Indie Spaceship Game releases today

I was planning on doing something productive today, but between this and Black Mesa Source, I don't think that's going to happen. Anyone else going to be playing this?

For anyone who doesn't know, FTL is a spaceship simulation roguelike-like. It tries to recreate the atmosphere of running a spaceship exploring the galaxy.

I'm impressed your first attempt lasted 27 minutes. My first jump ever was to a sun which had solar flares and a hostile enemy ship, and I died spectacularly.

My first atempt was to sector 5 where i met an enemy with 3 shields. Just running out of rockets and a burst laser with 3 shots on it didnt make me last long enough to avoid them totally killing me off.

Second atempt was on easy mode where the boss killed me. ATM im hunting for the crystal ship

Apparently I've played 50 games and I still haven't made it to the final boss . I think a lot of those attempts were games I didn't play, though.

crystal ship?

The 9th ship in your selection screen. That thing is a ***** to get since you pretty much have to scan rockman controled nebulas for a special event that looks like just another distress mission.

Basically take the cryo pod with crystals inside. Its also the 7th race you can encounter.

I got the 2nd layout for the kestrel it's pretty boss.

I got to the boss on my 2nd attempt with it and got pretty far along the fight, still lost though

I got to the second boss twice now. So close to being able to beat it but I can't quite do it...

Suggestion. Have a teleporter and destroy those missiles with your crew. While focusing all weapons on the drones. Once you get that far its really easy.

Yea multiple times. Its how you get the alliance cruiser.

Only once on normal though. Was lucky enough to pick up a bunch of burst laser 2 weapons. so i didnt have to buy them. And i also had a mantis raiding party.

I have both Kestrels, both Engi, and both Zolton.

@Grega: I play on Normal. My strategy at the moment is praying that I get an Ion Mark II and throwing all my points in evade. I want to try out teleports, but I feel like games with teleporters are rare because you need to find one at a store and find extra two extra crewmen are who are suitable to fighting. I'm thinking there's go tot be a ship that focuses on teleporting, maybe the Mantis unlock. I've seen that Mantis unlock a few times, haven't been lucky enough to defeat it yet.
