Extream LAG while playing OFF-LINE - possile?

While Im playing:
I get between 4-12(max) FPS(if I move a lot I get more FPS)
I have medium beam and FX, novoice and no high model thing
OPENGL 800X600
pentium 4 , 1400 MHZ
256 RAM
windows XP
latest version of HL and ESF
what to do?
or is this the way ESF was designed to be? lol

well for starters, you can defrag your harddrive and run scandisk that could improve performance a bit.

Also make sure that you dont have any, ANY, programs running in the background. Like anti-virus, chat clients, kazza or things like those since they can slow you down even when your are off-line.

also you can run a virus scan since if could be a virus thats hogging all the CPU time or it could also be that you have spyware* and you dont know it.

You can't get "lag" playing offline. You can get chop, which means your computer is slow. To me, it looks like you need more RAM, What's your video card, that probably has a lot to do with it as well.

nah, he has an better pc then m y óld' one where esf run good, this has nothing to do with his ram (i had less). I think he runs to many programs in the background or is downloading while playing the game, that mostly are the buggers.

WEll he should have becasue other wise it wouldn't run
and he can run OpenGl thus there is some sort of video card in it.

Try Mr. Satan's configuration, or just input some of the commands listed below into your .cfg files. This will probably fix your problem, as it did mine:

WOWOWOW guys , stop guessing my comp! let me do it instead lol!
I have G-Force2 MX or something like that
I used to have 50 fps and I was very happy about it
but I had much bugs so some1 told me to reinstall
and I also got my first liggle version of HL so I reinstalled with its CD
and WALLA 12 FPS max mostly 4!
none warez stuff sure is sux! and thats a lesson to all of you mamma's boys over there lol

I dont have anything running in the background as menstioned - absolutly nothing! only HL of course lol

and I tried a lot of tweaking like Mr. Satan's one and grOOvy's Tweaks!
none helped!

Ge-force MX isn't that good, so maybe thats your problem, although I can't understand why it ran better before..

You could try updating your graphic card drivers.

I already Updated them Via NVidia.com but I'll try your link anyway

still with depressing 4 fps max 12 but I think most of the time I even get less then 1 fps!
this is just wishing for Kamikazing!!!! I just cant take it!

Your Video card is the problem, i have a GeForce 3, twice as muich ram as you and i get chop every now and then. If it ran good before, then I don't know.
