ESF Server Hosting

I am wanting to setup a dedicated ESF 1.2.3 or 1.3 Beta server for everyone to play on. I would like everyone to say what they want most.

Will be up to the members, either ESF 1.2.3 without mods, ESF 1.2.3 with mods of ECX RC2 with Bigpack installed, or ESF 1.3 Beta.

I also need to know if I can setup a server only not full game with the ESF mod in steam. I don't actually have two games on my account so I can't host and play at the same time on my one account. Is there anyway I can download and install ESF X.X.X server files only on my server PC through Steam?

linux dedicated servers can be hosted without a steam acc/id
Now idea about windows hosting though but who wants to host windows servers..

You'll have trouble if using Linux. ESF doesn't work with latest Linux build HLDS files (I didn't try the very latest one though).

I don't currently have Linux setup. Have not used that in years. Would have to be running on windows.

You'll need to get the HLDS Update Tool to download the hlds files from valve.

If I recall correctly they call hl1 "valve".

Also, take a look at this site. http://hlds101.com/ It has a decent walk through of how to get the server going.
