Legend, I know how well you play this game, but if it was at all faster or the same speed as 1.1, Do you think it would change your views on the melee system which you seem to dislike with a passion? Think about it, the swoop would be sped up and the basic melee combo hits would still be restricted to 2 hits per hit back + the bonus for the terrain hits, adv. melee would still be split for both attackers and the game would have more aimless swoops...
Yes if we had the old speed from 1.1 (which i thought we would have for 1.2) I would like it better. I know adv melee is being speeded up making it faster and stuff which is good, but my only complaint now is the swoop speed. I think it would change my views on it though. So fights wont take like 10 min to finish everytime.

I think it's all a matter of preference. Some people like lightning fast gameplay, others like it at the speed it is now because it gives you a lot more control.

I personally like the speed of 1.2

I agree with Opti, I loved 1.1, but it was way too fast. For those who liked it and can handle it, congratulations, but once everyone was super-saiyan, it was pretty much chaos. I seriously doubt anyone could really keep their bearings at all times in 1.1. 1.2 on the other hand is slow enough to make me feel like I'm actually aiming and out manuevering people instead of just randomly swooping around, catching and losing my enemy constantly. The swooping is a bit slower, yes, but overall, the pace has become faster.

Yea the speed didn't seem to raise that much when it did raise though...
I've played against some of the best in 1.0/1 and if we both fought SSj we never landed a hit, or if we did it would be a good 20 swoops until we got it. In this version, there is more accuracy.

But the fights will last longer, there would be more misses. And, the fight's length is determined by the two players. For example, you and I had some long fights in 1.1, in 1.2 the fights were just longer because of the adv melee. ( I wish they put in a duel mode in a version that way we don't get interupted in our fights tho.. :S) In this version we aren't so spread out like in the last, we are within a two teleport distance for most of the fight.

1.0 was the speed rush.
1.1 slowed down alot because of ki upkeep.

1.2 puts the balance in both really. Not only is ki upkeep needed. *running out of ki can still kill you* It also stops the head ons..making people having to hit from the side above below and behind making 1.2 needing more skill then before.

The problem is the rewards for adv melee is null. Not only does it slow down the game. But also giving the person you fighting the chance to hit you.

Not to say this is a bad thing. It is nice eye candy plus most of the time i use adv melee to change songs or take a short rest to plan my next attack.

With this being said. If you dont like adv melee. Just use simple. Ya people will cuss at you. But who cares? The rewards for simple melee out does the ones for adv. Even the added bonus of the combos.

I bet your like. Wtf what does this have to do with 1.2 being slower? Everything if you think about it.

In comparison to 1.1, Evil Buu would be as fast as SSj Goku and SSj Vegeta and SSj Gohan, if not slower. In 1.1 Evil buu could easily swoop across the esf_city map in one swoop + the drift.

Offtopics: Its teh seckseh shadey :D  /wonders if he'll be back after this.

Please you people that say 1.2 is faster, go back and try 1.1 again. Wow, skill jump much? 1.2 is a HELLA lot slower than 1.1 or 1.0 even, I havn't tried 1.0 since 1.1 came out, though. Theres nothing hardcore about double-tap swoop, but, there definatly was somethign going on with the click swoop. People used to call themselves "Side-Hit Masters" or whatever they wanted to call it. Yeah, double tap swoop makes you go each direction .... Like you couldn't do it with your mouse. I would love 1.1's speed back, without the combo bull****. My 2 cents

People aren't saying 1.2 is faster, they're just saying the new overall pace is faster. Its two different things....

1.0 was faster then 1.1.
1.1 was faster then 1.2

If the team slowed down the game and made it still takes more skill. Then they are on the right track.

1.1 was simple. Someone chase you turn around and head on. It was the look for a way to sucker someone else into using more ki. Only so many ways you can do this.

In this version. You have Shadow images. Being able to swoop to the back and side. i bet your like wow big deal... take in the fact that now diffrent players can do diffrent things to be good. No set way really.

If you like to swoop back. Swoop back as the chase you. teleport hit when he stops.
After image also can be a weapon to fool.

Point is. you give up speed. You gain alot more tools.
Now mixing beams with melee is alot more fun then before. Not having to retarget is a bonus. I just wish the person you hit last. Would be highlighted. To many gohans 0_0

Esf is on the right track. This is coming from a guy who speed fights all the time and love the rush it gives. Now i find myself thinking even more. If you find this version slow. Your not fighting the right people.

I wont make a fuss in here because I'm preachy and people don't like it, but I'll poke my head in.

I'm noticing some of the complaints about speed aren't about one on one combat, they're about getting across a level slowly. I'd just like to point out that beam jumping costs less than it did in 1.1 and was not slowed down. Hit turbo and beam jump and you can get across a level in... 3-4 seconds with even the slowest character. True you don't have as much control over a beam jump, but to get from A to B you don't need very much.

Hitting people is easier but... so...? Flying at 500 mph and missing someone just barely over and over is annoying isn't it?

I made the thread I was talking about movement speed not the games pace.

one on one combat is also slow, but if you know what your doing it will go faster. I am complaining about speed because there are times when you can't take on 3 people because you can't run around like you could in 1.1. Or when a beam is coming you can't outrun it.

I was not appointing my comment to you....
I even quoted the guy i was.

Besides, Pcjoe even said that if they kept the 1.1 speed, people wouldn't be able to hit one another properly since it'd be too fast, and the hit-box would be missed loads. This was one reason it was slowed down.

As Phatslugga said, once you made ssj in 1.1, you really couldn't seriously keep up with an opponent equal or better than you. Half the time you were just mindlessly swooping around, and i found it rather boring. 1.2 seems to eradicate that problem, and i like it.

I know i wasnt being mean or nothin, but i was just stating what my thread was started on. people are talking about the pace of the game when im talking about the speed or movement (swooping, teleporting)

Right, and everyone knows that the swoop was taken down a notch, for the better. That doesn't really matter if the pace is faster. The difference is now it takes 6 or 7 seconds to get across the map, in comparison to 4.. OH NO, Not a few more seconds!!! The people that complain about that are probably the same people that change the original round time in CS down to a minute, instead of the default 5. People just can't wait 5 minutes anymore, it's sad.

The game takes tons more skill now if you want to become a pro. In 1.1 if you had better reflexes, then you won, simple as that. In 1.2 you have to use A LOT more strategy and the array of attacks that are given to you. People that had really good reflexes are just complaining now, becuase they actually have to work towards something, instead of just being good at swinging the mouse around. With the advanced melee, you can trick and confuse your opponent depending on how much you switch the arrows around. I've become pretty good at it, and There hasn't been one person that I couldn't trick into getting hit with a heavy hit, or a string of lights. The game requires real skill now, and people don't like it. To those people that think getting combo hits are too easy with simple melee, try incorporating some combo's with the throw, if you're elft with enough ki, you can devistate your opponent with a throw combo.

Phat, I understand where you are coming from, but you don't have to belittle a person just for their viewpoint. But also, Legend, the speed of this game is all relative. You will never be faster then cell if you are any of the characters other then Buu. Because of how the swoop was slowed down, the style of play is different. Sure back in 1.1 you could get a long, fast swoop going and swoop endlessly in circles around opponents, or get that quick melee hit in whenever someone didn't manage their Ki well; but in this version if you're playing someone that doesn't know the game well or that does know the game its alot more competitive. The drop in speed was necessary for the style of play, the equality of play and the manueverability.

lol...i can prove u wrong on that whole point u just made about adv melee phat...ask shin...u wont touch me with adv melee unless i miss a random one...which is rare...and i basically play the same way i did in 1.1...with the simple melee and all...im just able to add beams with melee more easily now because of the no target...that and i manage my ki a bit differently...and i still own servers...i had a score of 150-20 the other day in PT...and i still dont like the adv melee...jsut because its redundant....but thats not what this thread is about...

...like i said b4 the main reason they did this was so that they didnt hit the cap with the extra transformations...and the new melee has a lil bit to do with it also...and personally im glad they did it in this version and are letting us get used to it b4 the transformation changes
