You've been screwing it up for years? Bad habits are hard to break, I guess.... man, that's sad. That "quote" thing is something we've been doing for years.
You've been screwing it up for years? Bad habits are hard to break, I guess.... man, that's sad. That "quote" thing is something we've been doing for years.
BlueSaiyan, every time you post, my mental image of you gains a fly circulating it.You've been screwing it up for years? Bad habits are hard to break, I guess.... man, that's sad.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ironylol you guys still continue this shit kid like war
just stop it Nemix you´re ruining the forum
It's a bad habit if it's not being used effectively and as intended. It's like riding a bicycle backwards in to traffic... But anyways, I've got bigger fish to fry.... namely.....It's only a bad habit if it hurts something, and most people don't do it. If it doesn't satisfy those criteria, it's just a habit. But I'm guessing you weren't trying to bring logic into that particular argument.
I think it's much more depressing that you stick around a forum where you're clearly not wanted so you can give yourself this illusion of superiority through shallow condescension and insults. Why not just...you know, stop?
Wrong. They've got extremely high standards for THEMSELVES and we happen to benefit from that. They're not "expected" by some imaginary degree to create such phenomenal content. Furthermore why would I bash my head against the screen when I need it to roast you?
There's countless RPGs and games out there which don't offer you 150+ hours worth of content with 45+ cubic miles of GORGEOUS High Def landscapes and a massive lore that'd take you a year to read plus more weapons and armor than your coffers could ever carry.. They didn't need to do half of what they did just to sell us a game. And there's tons of people out there who haven't even bought the thing, so yeah, I think they did it because they love what they do... It's not ALL about the all-mighty dollar. There's something called Passion which is the main ingredient of fantastic works of art such as this. You know how must humans are 70% water? I'd say you're about 70% hatorade. We happen to benefit? What happens if they make shitty games and no one buys them? Who's going to buy an Elder Scrolls game that has 20 hours worth of content and little in the way of replayability? Probably you, but I think its safe to assume you're in the minority, and they'd go bankrupt.
Oh you referencing the 8-bit era? You mean the games that were solely driven by story because the graphics and presentations in themselves were so abysmal? The kind of games that you'd only be able to play alone because if your friends tried to pick it up they'd throw down the controller in an instant, because, they weren't immersed in some lengthy storyline? Like an ugly girlfriend with a great personality? Hah! Funny.
If you had read my other post at all, the one where I saidI'm actually talking about just about everything I played on the PSX/2 and PC while growing up. You know, when selling a 15 hour game for 30-50 dollars would have gotten you laughed off the face of the planet, because who the hell would buy a single player/local MP shorter in length than you are obtuse? MP has been an excuse to put out shoddy title time and again. TES doesn't have that luxury. But this isn't about length of a game. This is about Bethesda doing what they're paid to do. I don't get tips for doing a great job, nor do I expect hand outs. They shouldn't and they don't. They know they have to work to prove that their mmo isn't another WoW clone, so by instantly giving in and falling prostrate before them, you're actually doing the company and the gaming community a disservice. Every endeavor should push the envelope. It just so happens I don't give two shits about mmos, and certainly not a fantasy one at that.
would you have even bothered writing this abortion of a comeback to me? Bethesda doesn't simply "Do what they're paid to do", you intellectual lightweight, they get PAID to DO what they do. They get PAID because they make GOOD products. They didn't get IN TO IT to get rich... Your philosophies are all backwards. It's not the MONEY which creates great products, it's great ideas and passion which I'm sure seems foreign to you in whatever miserable occupation you currently pay your bills with. And btw if you don't care about MMO's then you've got no stake in this conversation so stay out of it and stop posting in the thread... Seriously, Elder Scrolls MMO is the name of the thread and you insist on coming in here and shitting all over it? Like I said, nothin but haterade.I'm not suggesting u just rush out there and buy it at launch... No... Youtube the gameplay, and if it looks good then give it a try for a month. Don't just swear it off now before you've even seen it.
I never said you were "obligated" to give them your money... And then you go on to assume it's a "shitty MMO" and you haven't even scratched the surface on what this game is actually going to be like. Your words just reek of ignorance to me. "I can't enjoy effort".... WTF does that even MEAN? Have you even PLAYED skyrim? omg...... this is ridiculous... Please ask your girlfriend to slam your fingers with a rolling pin so that you can't type anymore. I will pay her for it.
Again...No, you didn't say we were obligated. You said we should play the game "out of respect". Yeah, no.
I'm not suggesting u just rush out there and buy it at launch... No... Youtube the gameplay, and if it looks good then give it a try for a month. Don't just swear it off now before you've even seen it.
Sigh..... this is just rambling at this point... Read what I said above. It's an mmo. I've already stated I don't like mmos. The best mmo is still shitty because its an mmo. That's how I feel about the genre. You *****ing about how we all need to give them our money and sacrifice our first born children because they made Skyrim isn't going to change that. If anything, knowing that people like you are going to populate their servers only cements my decision to stay away.
What's the difference between "Stats and abilities" and LEVELS? DO NOT THEY GO HAND IN HAND? You gain a level, you get new STATS and ABILITIES... gosh... wow... this is sad.
And so you've chosen to completely ignore how other games have solved this issue and, instead, prefer to stick to your ridiculous narrative. Good on you. It isn't easy to completely ignore reality in favor of self-created machinations.
My point is with such a large level discrepancy being commonplace in the theoretical setting of a typical "Multiplayer Elder Scrolls" game, there would be MAJOR balancing issues... It'd either be way too hard for someone, or way too easy for someone else. Are you suggesting, if say a level 50 was joined by a level 25 player, that we create a massive army of level 15 players?? And then what, the 50 just AoE's them all and done deal? You're not thinking it through
The short bus, huh? Thanks for the nostalgia trip, I haven't heard that one since middle school! Is that where you left your I.Q.? .... Lol. You claim not to expect everything for free handed to you on a silver platter, yet you expect 150+ hours worth of content with 45+ cubic miles of GORGEOUS High Def landscapes and a massive lore that'd take you a year to read plus more weapons and armor than your coffers could ever carry AND a REFINED multiplayer experience all for $60???? HAHAHAHA... I rest my case.Do you ride the short bus with Jason? Why is a level 50 being teamed with a level 25? Why, in your scenario, is the match making system completely broken? Your scenario is broken from the outset; a product of a broken mind, perhaps.
I guess you guys are all doing a train-dance with your 8===> up each other's (_o_) . Were you aware that you were attracted to other men before you posted this? Because I wasn't.I'mma just leave you to Dio for now. You are obviously very young and he's better at making you young-uns look retarded.
Sometimes I'll just sit here, light up a bowl or two, and contemplate for hours on end why you aren't banned yet.I guess you guys are all doing a train-dance with your 8===> up each other's (_o_) . Were you aware that you were attracted to other men before you posted this? Because I wasn't.
"At least we have each other" LMAO!! Mmmm, I love having a good debate. Don't take it personal. BTW I am not homophobic at all. Just... that was funny.Well, at least we have each other while you sit in the corner and touch yourself to your own self-gratifying posts.
It is desctuctive. It breeds confusion and destroys TIME which is the only truly perishable commodity we posses as human beings. Causing confusion by misusing forum quotes as they were intended to be used is a destructive waste of time, indeed.I also didn't want to involve myself in your shit storm of saying pretty much nothing. Btw, riding a bike backwards into traffic falls under the category of destructive while using a quote differently...isn't.
Please this, please that... I'm not going to not be myself or use whichever vernacular I choose, just because you, asked me not to... lol.And please don't use the phrase "intellectual lightweight" again. It just makes you look like a complete idiot to try to combine a boxing term and intelligence.
Your profile picture just... makes this post a work of art.Sometimes I'll just sit here, light up a bowl or two, and contemplate for hours on end why you aren't banned yet.
I get it, you don't know how to quote things, I've learned that about you by now.Do you seriously not know how to format your posts? Jesus. I can't even quote that bullshit.
Whoa whoa whoa..... There is definitely over 100 hours worth of dungeons, craft-able items, side quests, etc to be had in Skyrim. I've just got to flat out refute that statement.Skyrim didn't offer me 150 hours worth of content. It provided me with an arena in which to create my adventures. DayZ is a game you can easily play for hundreds of hours in and still not hate it. There isn't hundreds of hours of content to be had in Skyrim.
That's like saying you can't be attracted to a woman until she's got breast and butt implants. But honestly if you haven't truly played the vanilla game as I have (and all other PS3/360 owners have) then you don't truly know what this game has to offer. You went and modded it up before you got to truly experience it in it's entirety. That's fine, to each his own, but you can't claim that this game doesn't offer over 100 hours of content when you yourself chose not to seek it out.To say there's not hundred Its your interactions with what actually is there, and your ability to explore that makes the game what it is. Fact of the matter is I spend more time un****ing Bethesda's games with mods than I do playing vanilla content. If there was no mod community for the games, I probably wouldn't play them.
FOR you. That's fine, if that's how you want to play the game, but you've chosen to miss out on tons of content in the process.Bethesda provides a solid foundation, but its the modding community that really builds upon it and makes the game worth playing for me.
That's your opinion, that's fine, but I personally was fascinated completing all of the side quests and found MANY of them to be very interesting. It's like a book full of short stories. You can't just read a couple stories, and then say "This ENTIRE book sucks!" ...This isn't a one game type deal, either. I have similar experiences with all of their games. It's easy to have a hundred hours of playtime in a sandbox environment. It's not so easy to have a great storyline on top of that. And frankly, TES has always been weak on the narrative aspects for me.
I don't worship them, but I can pay respect to the tremendous amount of work they've put in to this product and readily will admit that they truly did go above and beyond for this game.... I'm not speaking about Oblivion, which had a lot of content but fell short on a few fundamental concepts in my opinion. But to see how these games have evolved from Marrowind all the way to Skyrim has VERY promising implications for their MMO.Now, that isn't to say they didn't do a good job or that their games aren't good. I enjoy them. I just don't worship them like you do. That isn't to say they don't love their jobs, either. I'm sure they do.
Crappy employees will be unemployed... I concur. Lol. But you don't have to be vice president material for a company to hire you either... These guys aren't amateurs. It also helps, however, that if they provide a shit product, they'll be living on the streets.
Thank you for admitting that it's easy, that at least shows some respect for what they've accomplished. Just Cause 2 was a good game too I'm not refuting that. But to say "I don't hear their fans calling someone spoiled because they're not going to pick up their next title for a month because LOOK AT WHAT WE DID WITH JUST CAUSE 2." is not only implying that you're constantly watching their fans and reading all of their conversations, AND that you're implying a Just Cause 2 MMORPG, lol but also.... If someone were to say "Just Cause 3 is gonna suck!" and you loved Just Cause 2, then feel free to defend it in the interest of the public who might be liable to believe an uneducated opinion about a game from a person who's probably never really played it past the demo. You can tout around TES all day, because its easy, but I had just as much fun with and spent just as much time ******* around in Just Cause 2, a game that isn't as appreciated as it should be. I don't hear their fans calling someone spoiled because they're not going to pick up their next title for a month because LOOK AT WHAT WE DID WITH JUST CAUSE 2.
Soooo, you came to this forum because......? Lol. To hate? Well, I don't care whether or not you care, I'm not a spokesperson or a salesman for Bethesda. But to throw a DBZ analogy out there: It's like, if you saw what Goku did on Earth by defeating Vegeta, and you knew he was coming to Namek, wouldn't you feel a little bit secure in saying that he's totally going to kick ass the next time you see him?I've already seen videos of the game, I've read threads on various boards, and all of it points to me not caring what happens to the game. I have no investment in it. It simply doesn't interest me. So I'm going to, you know, go ahead and continue not giving a shit until they pull something off that catches my interest. Which they won't do, because it's a standard mmo.
Your undying devotion? You never liked the game in the first place, lol... You can lead a horse to water but if he's not thirsty he's not going to drink. But seriously, your insults are juvenile lol. Especially to me of all people... Try using that crap on Horatio or someone similar, but not on me, lol. See, I get in to arguments on these boards because I take thoughts a little deeper... You want to backtrack and stop your thought at "They're doing their job". Yes, they are employees for Bethesda and they get paid to create video games, but the bigger picture is much deeper than that. If you don't want to look at the bigger picture then fine, don't engage me in these arguments. I pity the foo.And your argument is somewhere between retarded and ******* stupid. I'm not sure which goes where on the scale, but just its somewhere there. I'm not even sure what you're arguing by talking about WHAT they GET PAID to DOOOOOOOOO. I stated I'm not obligated to fork over my cash based on past merits or give them my respect or whatever nonsense you're spouting, because they're doing their job. What they're doing is what they're supposed to do. They aren't going to have my undying devotion for making a video game. As a 9 year old, I'm sure that's hard for you to grasp. I understand. Not your mentality, obviously, because its the dumbest thing I've read today, but I understand that you're incapable of approaching this objectively because ITS BETHESDA AND SKYRIM IS BASICALLY THE SISTINE CHAPEL BUT WITH SHITTIER MODELS! Whatever.
Ahh yes, reading comprehension is a very difficult subject for some. The next few paragraphs don't make any sense so I'm going to skip them, but I'm sure they'd only make me wish you were swallowed rather than conceived.
I guess you have no concept of how difficult it'd be to implement a sophisticated match making system in to a game like Skyrim... Don't you think they would have done so if it were so easy? We can all assume they're pretty smart guys, right? Jeez... You expect a game with:And my point is that your scenario is nonsensical and shouldn't occur if there's any kind of matchmaking system at all. There's no reason for someone twice your level to be grouped with you, unless the level 50 decided to go back to the early areas just to screw with people. It isn't like you're making the game, after all. That'd be stupid.
Lol.150+ hours worth of content with 45+ cubic miles of GORGEOUS High Def landscapes and a massive lore that'd take you a year to read plus more weapons and armor than your coffers could ever carry AND a REFINED multiplayer experience all for $60???? HAHAHAHA
Uhh... okay... I'll just say what I said before, about you not looking at the bigger picture. We're talking about BANG for your BUCK here. There's tons of videogames out there with the same price tag which do not offer even a quarter of the content offered in VANILLA Skyrim. That's all I'm sayin.Yes, I expect a video game to be 60 dollars. I expect that because somehow, everyone decided 60 dollars wasn't a lot of money for a video game. So now its the standard. Unless I'm transported into the world of Skyrim, become the Dragonborn and have *****es suck me off all day until its time to take out a dragon, I expect to pay 60 bucks.
Never said I wanted to pay more for it, but it certainly is a bang for our buck. A Masterpiece of modern gaming. They KNEW that people were only going to pay $60 dollars for the game, and yet they made it as amazing as they did.... THAT, to me, deserves some respect and acknowledgement. But someone like you who decided to mod it up and Frankenstein the hell out of it would not have the experience to warrant a truly educated opinion about the game. That's fine, and I think with that simple fact, I can say that there's not much left for us to talk about here.Because its a video game. You clearly want to spend more than that, so perhaps you should go ahead and buy a few copies for the people of this community.
I'll be banned the same day you get banned for promoting the use of illegal substances, lolSometimes I'll just sit here, light up a bowl or two, and contemplate for hours on end why you aren't banned yet.
Sorry uhh, I got a bit, shall we say, distracted with current discussion but I didn't mean to forget about your post... So, this is exactly what I picture when I imagine your vision A game balanced by player level will run into issues where either the high level player gains nothing by running with lowbies, or the low level players are getting massacred by encounters made for higher levels. This could be fixed artificially by averaging the player level, but it would mean a lot of time consuming fine tuning. It's not impossible, but also not feasible.
Now, if you only take in account player numbers, you can create more interesting situations for the players. You could take the Diablo road of increasing enemy health/attack/etc, but that's also artificial (also, not fun).
A simple and fun way of dealing with this is increasing enemy count, which assures each player has something different to do.
But if you only add the same kind of enemy, over and over, the combat gets boring!, you'd say. Of course it would, that's why, such as players within a group, the enemies must be diverse and working together. Since you know how many players are in the field, you know how encounters should behave. If there's a large number of players, enemies would use flanking maneuvers, attack in big waves or have creatures which require more than one player to take down. For smaller groups, add enemies which sneak up and jump at the players (pushing them to go back to back), add enemies with weak spots only available if they are attacking someone else. And the list can go on.
Player count balancing is also useful for platforming and puzzle type encounters.
For example: A part of a dungeon requires you to go through a hallway with swinging ceiling axes.
SINGLEPLAYER: With good timing, you can run through without dying. After you reach the end, a lever will disable the trap.
Two Players: The axes are moving fast enough so the player can't get through without being hit. The second player must hold a lever which slows down the axes to allow the first player to pass. The first player reaches the end and disables the trap using a lever.
Three Players: The same hallway now has closed gates in between the fast moving axes from the previous point. The gates can only be opened by standing on pressure plates along the swinging axe hallway. A third player now has to follow the first and run behind him to keep the gates open.
That would be all, for now, since I have to get going, but you can come up with reasons why player level balancing is superior in the meanwhile. The discussion is fun, nonetheless.
The sham is over horatio. We're on to you. Its time to take take the blue pill.Sounds like Horatio likes me.
I'm going to go ahead and declare victory. If I can put zero effort into an argument and still not lose, it's pretty clear you're not worth arguing with. But by all means, continue.I get it, you don't know how to quote things, I've learned that about you by now.
Said Lenny, before George put a bullet through his head.
Whoa whoa whoa..... There is definitely over 100 hours worth of dungeons, craft-able items, side quests, etc to be had in Skyrim. I've just got to flat out refute that statement.
It would not take you 100 hours to go to every dungeon and fight every enemy. Being able to spend 100 hours in a game doesn't mean there's 100 hours worth of content in that game. You've yet to refute my statement. You simply said the opposite.
That's fine, to each his own, but you can't claim that this game doesn't offer over 100 hours of content when you yourself chose not to seek it out.
Or like saying I won't date a woman with Downs syndrome. I'm sure you were quite content playing Skyrim on a console (Aahahahahaha), but I prefer not to wait a year before most of the bugs are fixed. Luckily, the mod community began un****ing the game almost immediately, and to this day, they're still updating their list. Everything else, be it ENB settings, new armors, weapons and villages, new behaviors, better gameplay mechanics e.g. make combat visceral and less of a slug fest, weather systems, rebalancing, etc all add to the foundation laid by Bethesda. But they certainly improve the game, and add a layer of depth not otherwise found. The game is infinitely better with those mods and contribute directly to me spending over 200 hours ingame.
FOR you. That's fine, if that's how you want to play the game, but you've chosen to miss out on tons of content in the process.
Miss out on content....by adding content? You have no idea what you're talking about, do you?
That's your opinion, that's fine, but I personally was fascinated completing all of the side quests and found MANY of them to be very interesting. It's like a book full of short stories. You can't just read a couple stories, and then say "This ENTIRE book sucks!" ...
Yeah, I'm going to go ahead and say you're still reading the Redwall series if you think the storyline in TES is top notch. Want to experience a game full of disconnected and interconnected side quests that introduce, and expand upon lore while adding depth to the game? Play either of the Witchers. Skyrim doesn't come close. And your analogy falls flat as Skyrim had a main narrative that was found wanting. The rest was fluff.
I don't worship them, but I can pay respect to the tremendous amount of work they've put in to this product and readily will admit that they truly did go above and beyond for this game.... I'm not speaking about Oblivion, which had a lot of content but fell short on a few fundamental concepts in my opinion. But to see how these games have evolved from Marrowind all the way to Skyrim has VERY promising implications for their MMO.
Irrelevant. We're talking about what's been released about the game, and the game itself. Based on what's out there, I'm not remotely interested. Get over it.
Crappy employees will be unemployed... I concur. Lol. But you don't have to be vice president material for a company to hire you either... These guys aren't amateurs.
And again, you miss the point. I'm done trying to beat it into your thick skull.
I spent 200+ hours in Skyrim. I obviously liked the game. It doesn't merit me going apeshit about their mmo, however, which you seem to be unable to comprehend. As for the rest of that paragraph, it's pure idiocy. I don't feel the need to defend something I did not partake in creating and have zero stake in. It's a game. If someone doesn't like it, they don't like it. Stating Just Cause 3 is going to be amazing because Just Cause 2 was good is pretty stupid. Much like saying this mmo is going to be amazing because Skyrim was amazing. They're different animals, and they're in new territory for the company. If it failed, zero people would be surprised.
Soooo, you came to this forum because......? Lol. To hate? Well, I don't care whether or not you care, I'm not a spokesperson or a salesman for Bethesda. What is the purpose of a forum? A place to hold conversations on a myriad of topics, correct? Now, I know you probably wanted this to be a giant circle-jerk, because that's what you're into (Not that there's anything wrong with that), but I am in no way obligated to operate by the parameters you set for your discussions. So basically, I'll say what I want, where I want and where I want. Just Cause. I understand you take issue with that. That's alright. Because I don't care.
Your undying devotion? You never liked the game in the first place, lol... You can lead a horse to water but if he's not thirsty he's not going to drink. But seriously, your insults are juvenile lol. 200 hours in Skyrim. Hundreds of hours in Fallout 3, Oblivion and Morrowind. I think, perhaps, I like their major titles. That doesn't mean I'm going to turn into you and plead a case on their behalf because my life revolves around video games. You keep talking about the big picture, but the big picture is they care creators and you are a consumer. In exchange for their art, you give them money. There's nothing more to it. They aren't making the world a better place to live. They're providing a product. Get over yourself.
Ahh yes, reading comprehension is a very difficult subject for some.
Says the guy who missed an entire post and declared victory during a discussion.
I guess you have no concept of how difficult it'd be to implement a sophisticated match making system in to a game like Skyrim... Don't you think they would have done so if it were so easy? We can all assume they're pretty smart guys, right? Jeez... You expect a game with: Lol.
If only there were systems in place in mmos past and present that could be mimicked and improved upon. All of the issues you've brought up aren't issues. It's just you making up nonsense, and then arguing about that nonsense. It has absolutely no bearing on reality, or on their game. You don't seem to realize that.
Uhh... okay... I'll just say what I said before, about you not looking at the bigger picture. We're talking about BANG for your BUCK here. There's tons of videogames out there with the same price tag which do not offer even a quarter of the content offered in VANILLA Skyrim. That's all I'm sayin.
And it doesn't matter because unless they pull another Morrowind out of their ass, its going to be replaced by the next iteration.
I'm sorry, I can't take someone seriously if they have absolutely no idea how modding works for the Elder Scrolls games. If you think you're getting the "full experience" by playing the game on a console, you're a) out of your mind and b) not even a real fan.
