I have played doom 3 from start to about middle with my buddy. He works at EB Games and "has" to play the game first to tell the customers about it.
Does Doom 3 have a cdkey?
No, Doom 3 has an IDA (I think that's what it's called) process that connects to the internet when you get on and checks the id embedded in the game with the server. If someone else, on a different location and other stuff, connects to the internet with the same id, both versions will be canceled out, meaning both will be unplayable.
*The CD-Key Info is from other forums and webpages and partly from my friend. I do not exactly know as I was not there for the install*
The original can contact id for a replacement.
Is Doom 3 scary? - SPOILERS - Highlight to read.
YES. There are moments that will scare the shiznit out of you and there are moments that will send those shivers running up your spine.
EX: Near the beginning when trouble is formulating but hell hasn't broken lose yet, you'll hear strange things. I was walking down a hallway and got to a closed door (if that's what you want to call them), the screen goes red and you hear a woman whisper "They took my baby..." and then baby cries all around you, but in the scariest way possible. It just makes you shiver.
Another moment is when I had just battled through some zombies and get to a door, when I almost flip out of my chair as a demon head busts through the door and tries to grab at me.
What kind of gear should I have?
Well, according to PC Gamer and Id, you should have this:
Minimun, Low End system:
1.5Ghz P4 chip or AMD Athlon 1500
384Mb of RAM
2Gb of hard drive space.
An nVidia GeForce 3 or ATI 8500 graphics card
Middle End system:
P4 2.4 or 2400 AMD Athlon
512mb RAM
4GB of hard drive space.
Radeon 9600XT/nVidia 5700
High End system:
3.4Ghz Processor
2gb ram (overkill)
Radeon X800XT/nVidia 6800 Ultra
There is a setting beyond High that requires technology not released yet to use, I can't wait to see it.
My friend played on a Pentium 4 2.4 Gigahertz Processor, 512 MB DDR Ram, Geforce 4 Ti4600. It played doom 3 perfectly, hardly any slowdowns at Medium settings. It also looked godly.
What type of sound setup should I have?
You MUST have either surround sound or headphones. Playing with 2 speakers is NO fun at all. The cry scene I mentioned earlier is ungodly with surround sound, as the cries surround you and just make you feel so alone and helpless.
Can I ask about the levels?
No, asking about levels would be considered warez on this forum aswell as void the contract my friend has with EB Games.
What type of performance will I get with _____
To get decent fps, I'd recommend 1.5 Gigahertz P4 with 512 mb ram and atleast a geforce 3 ti 200.
Did they recycle old monsters?
Yes, they've recycled a ton of the old monsters, but that's not a bad thing. The scarriest of them... hmm... I'd say... the Pinky demon.

(), but you can interact with lots of computer screens with your own semi-mouse thing. The physics are very good too, blasting a zombie with a shotgun so he falls down the stairs is very fun ;D.
