I'm trying to figur out how to to fix the HL can't find hl/esforces/dll/client_dll file. Yes I know no one play alpha anymore but I just wanted to play a round for old times. BTW I think your password retrivel system for the forums is messed up since I was unable to get mine back.

If you have beta 1.1 installed, you cannot join a server which has alpha installed and vice-versa. Reinstall 1.1 (or get the latest fmod.dll and client.dll from a friend, but reinstalling is better).
If you want to play Alpha, why not install it in a different mod directory under HL? That way you can switch between 1.1 and alpha using the CUSTOM MODs option in Half Life.
