erm, by calling yourself a goth, u are catagorizing urself into a certain group. hence u are in that group?

im a punk i call myself a punk, but im different from other punks in the way i have less socialist views and other various veiws are different, i like the music, the attitude and the way of dressing so im happy to say im a punk, this doesnt mean i want to fit in, the basic principal of being punk is about doing what u want, and thats wat i do. However u have people that want to be part of a group so they change themselves to suit a certain group no matter if goth, punk, wigga/kev, etc, people hu do-do this are what usually supply others with a stereotype.

Dont get mad if people dont know what they are saying and they have fixed views, be proud and say im different, remember if you dont want to be considered part of a group then dont defend the whole group, it sounds like ur 1 of them

the basic principal of being punk is about doing what u want, and thats wat i do.

well i believe and so do most goths that it is to be who you are and not something you are not, changing urself to fit in a group would be against that... In a way goth is a group but its not all about fitting into it, it is about who you are. most goths are people who want to be themself and be the way they are and dont give a **** what other people think about it or them, that could be why people choose that as a group and maybe they get into things that group is involved in. But I say again it is more about who you are then a group.

I have many friends who are goths and that is who I speak for not the whole group of people I dont know and people who are in it for the image and could understand as much as some people in here do and still call themself a goth.

I have no problems against Goths, but the stuff they're wearing isn't really intimidating or fascinating.
Also, the Goth's are part of the Germanic race. So, what is up with the black?

Some of my friends are Goths, and frankly, I don't care about appearance.
I respect them and they respect me.

By the way, I'm interested in German, Japanese(Asian), Italian culture.
And my house has a Japanese style from the inside and alot of people like it.

Ive known many goths, some are complete díck heads some are cool, it aint down to the group, it down to the person.

Everyone could say that, but I gave evidence about why im different, unlike many that cant justify their claims, the majority of punks are very socialist and left wing and thats most of the foundations of being a punk, im much more centred taking idea's and pricipals from both left and right, plus there are other complications (which i wont get into), other than that i dont care. Consider me the same as the rest i'd rather be that than anything else.

Even if they care about it, they might as well go visit a Zoo or the Forest and hump some animals, like the 'random' boy/girl friend pickers they are.

OK. Ive been thinking about this for a while and what ive realized that Goths really arent "rejects" as they are pictured to be. Thats just their thing. Their people who really dont want to fit in with the "normal" crowd, but still end up "fitting in" with their own group. In my mind Goths arent wierd, their just filling out their niche in society.

And Stanz this isnt much of a poll. Everytime someone says "Oh I dislike Goths you go all OMFG HOW CAN YOU SAY THAT YOU *****************************. If your gonna ask for opinions you should be prepared for opinions that dont match yours.

Run around calling yourself a rebel or some crap, a non-conformist, but in fact by dawning your black acolyte hood and massive pant-straps you're conforming to another sub-society even more strict than the one you wish to run from. Those have been my observations, at least.

We all need to deal with the same ****. Most goths I know are rich little kids in the suburbs and crap that hardly have a damn thing to complain about other than ****ty grades and distant parents.

People dress gothic because they like to? Because "it's you" or whatever simplistic, bull**** reason they have like that? Whatever... they can go ahead, it's reason enough I guess. Just don't tell me it's because you hate your life.

And I do know goths who associate with "energy raisings" and blah blah blah. So yes, I will associate certain groups of goths to "magical spells." Can you stop me? Yes, that is what I call posers, In my mind they are not goths that is why I do not compare them, They are pathetic people who seek attention by trying to be in a group which they are not truly off. My friend knows someone who dresses goth sometimes and completly normal other times, That is an example of a poser.

I did not say they all listen to the same style of music, get your facts straight. I said I liek there style of music. I have yet to see or hear of a goth that likes N'Sync, BSB, Brittney Spears, ect.

and the music you stated, Cradle of Filth, ect, are the types of music most people would assume goths listen to. I get most of my music selection from punk rockers and the goth scene.

So don't post things trying to make it look like being prejudice to Goths.

BTW: Goths don't practice Magic, They may be different but they are not stupid.

I myself have nothing against goths, I just don't like Posers, Preps, and people who think they know what there talking about.

as for mine...

I don't stereotype, some are cool, some aren't, hell I don't like calling people "goths" or "punkers" or stuff like that, people are people, no need to just toss on a label to them because of their style they are exposed to, if you feel that you must call them that for labelling reasons, you need to know they have individuality.

I myself hang out with the "skaters," yea we just get called that from the preppy people (I only use labels on them cuz all teh people at my school suck, and if you suck, I call you a prep cuz I don't like you! lol) so if we are yelling and having a good tmie we get the occasional "stupid skaters shut the **** up!"

and I retaliate withthe humorus, "no you are ***" and I am just trying to throw in fun, groups are always rivaling each other, people stereotype, they don't get to know the other people of the other group, people are individuals!!! they should not have labels on them!

That's nice to say and all but in all honesty it's not true at all, the whole point is to be noticed.. and it's sad that goths, punks, etc. have to dress differently to be noticed.. Use your personality not your outfit...

I dress normal, very bland but i dont give a damn, it's comfortable.. I am very different from normal though, and the idea of putting on hours worth of make up and putting ass loads of gel in my hair just to have a spike pisses me off.. why would you do that.. ehh i dont know
