I find it funny how you all think im jealous, but the fact of the matter is I dont care that I didnt make beta tester, because I didnt try out for it. I didnt ask to be one, I didnt ask how to be one, and I didnt even know you guys were recruiting for them. I just saw who was picked for it, and noticed the mistake.
And I can see how it is a little rude to think "if you suck at ESF you cant beta test" but the honest fact of the matter is that pro's play more so they know more. the beta testers now may know the basics but Pro's know the mechanics, pro's know what to look for when it comes to bugs, as to where people who arent good at the game wouldnt know how to find them because they arent good at the game, so they never notice things that effect gameplay, like getting stuck after you get double hit in mid air for a split second longer than you should be and not being able to swoop forward towards your enemy without sliding off of him. But pro's notice things like that.
Sure people who play a lot are good to have as a beta tester, but who plays the most obviously? Pro's or average players? Pro's obviously. So they would be Ideal for beta testers.
Now I understand that Not every game starts out with pro beta testers, and thats true, but consider the fact that the majority of the pro's have been here since the previous versions, they have the experience in what was good about the old versions and what was bad, and this isnt a new mod, its been around for a while so your example doesnt entirley apply. I doubt shiyojin remembers 1.1 or was even around when it came out. But pros have been here since before then, so they know whats good and whats bad due to pure experience.
The fact of the matter is that as big as this forum may be, less than half of the forum still plays activly. So why make them beta testers? Dont beleive me?

Wow shiyojin WOULD be a great beta tester because hes so active in the forums, so of course he would know a lot about actually playing.
Grega, he plays, but as far as I know he doesnt really have the experience to find the meaningful bugs that will effect hardcore fights. Skyrider, ive never heard of this guy except for on the forums, so im lead to beleive that he rarley plays, if you would like to prove me wrong skyrider you can play me whenever, and prove me wrong.
Overall the fact that some people just post a lot and rarley play doesnt seem like a good idea for stnadards on recruiting beta testers. Lets face it, beta testers have to know the game their testing otherwise they wont know whats wrong, getting a variety of skills is a nice idea for some things, but not beta testing. You need to know what your doing, and unless you know the game well, you wont know whats supposed to be there and what isnt.
As for you Kain, I brought you into another server, we fought we discussed why we were pushing for less newbie beta testers, and after all your points had been disproven you decided to completly stray from the convo and repeatedly ask if anyone had 'ever had a broken nose', not only that but you blatantly said you didnt care about the game, because you play other games more, which is something we pointed out to you, and after a while you admitted. you said that the team should be left alone, and if they choose to ruin ESF then let them. Which shows how little you really care for the game, ask anyone who was there (Zeonix, Rayne) So yes kain, you were kicked, because you dont care about ESF, you put E-friends before the mod, and thats not the way jobs should be assigned, they should be assigned to the people who can do them best. Not because theyre nice. And your summary of what we said is completley wrong, we only said pros had more experience and knew what to look for when it came to bugs in gameplay.
Also shiyo your statement " Pros tend to be rigid and unflexible in their ways, having adopted a fighting style that is powerful but does hardly change." is completly wrong, Pros learn to adapt, any pro can tell you in order to be good you have to adapt to your oponents style, so your pretty wrong on that. You would've known that, but you dont play ESF
Overall I have to be honest. I like the game ESF, and Ive been around it for a while, I started in 1.1 and loved it, moved to 1.2 liked it for a week and stopped like everyone else. I like other pro's want this game to turn out to be its best possible, I dont want to see it get thrown away because it wasn't fully thought through. If its gonna be the last version, then you better beleive im gonna be pushing for it to be tested the best, do everything I can to make it the best version.
