Am I the only 1 who sees this is going waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay off-topic? I made a little suggestion before, so just keep this thread open by throwing a new suggestion.

"1.2 Adv. Melee vs. Simple melee (and other things)"

Sounds on topic to me. Most peoples' beef is that simple is faster / more effective than advanced. 1.2.1 changes that around a little.

I think we've all heard your persistent whining about 1.2 being 'DDR All-Stars.' No one cares to hear you argue that point, so I'm not surprised at if someone tells you to stop flapping your gums.

The idea of this thread was to be productive. If you've got nothing but one lame insult and constant banter about your 'good old days,' then of course someone's going to tell you to shut the hell up, because you're at that point no use to the conversation.

I would say the thread's gotten somewhere with some of advanced melee's biggest neighsayers playing the sped up version and liking it, but if you're so adamant to put that foot back in your mouth, there's nothing I'm about to do to stop you. Good job.

And to MP,

I wasn't out to get you personally, I just know you were showing a 'lack of faith' in what 1.2.1 can and will do for the game. I'm just going to wait for you to post, "The new advanced melee is cool," present to you your old post, and be like, "Do you want some salt with those words? Some ketchup maybe?" :]

Hal c'mon... if you egg people on they're going to end up just criticizing the new speed instead of talking about the positive aspects of it...

Just try it out and see if it's an improvement, and please remember advanced melee right now is just a framework to work with in the future.

Its not even like that. Were just joking around, he knows how I feel about the new patch.

Im just eager to see waht it can do to what the melee is already. I dont dont see it as a catastrophic shift in gameplay.

Halorin you have one purpose on the computer, and thats to be some douche on the otherside of the moniter with an advanced vocabulary, period. Don't ****ing tell us to make suggestions and say
I think we've all heard your persistent whining about 1.2 being 'DDR All-Stars.' No one cares to hear you argue that point
Of coarse you've heard this before, and don't want to read it again, but guess who DOESN'T care.. As long as someones not satisfied they will ***** just like a child for a long period of time. Say whatever you want, you can't stop me from my opinion. This thread has gone as far as a good debate was going on and then you banned our whole side for "dodging bans" Dodging.. a ban. K.. ****, no one likes lynxy, but for once, someone as dedicated to being an ******* as you for you to talk to. Oh nos, ban him. plz. quick, hes evading the ban.

I'm sorry for having an opinion halorin, and I'm also sorry it didn't make your day. Good job!

Stfu already... Stop responding to each other and just get on with the thread.

Dray the problem with your opinion is that we're all tired of hearing it, because it's the same opinion a lot of other people have, and we're working to make the melee system better. You come in and spam with some crap and then flame Hal, even if Hal egged you in some way to do it, it's just inappropriate. Knock it off. We got it, you had your say, if you have anything to add that we haven't heard feel free.

No clue, but you sure as hell do have a :warning: warning :warning: - because you just got one for spamming. Continue along the same path, and you will receive further warnings and will eventually be banned.

Back on topic.

Hey be4 this "goes on" I just have 1 question.

Couldn't any1 ask us (1.0-1.1 players) what do we think about the new system before the release?

no offence but with all the 1.2/1.1 newbs that dont know 1.1 melee or how to use it properly its kinda hard to know now if 1.1 melee was realy worse than 1.2 melee.

The team looks for feedback from the beta testers primarily. They asked for opinions early in 1.2's development by releasing the plan for how gameplay would be. You can see every gameplay change in the bugs listing, so it's not like you don't see what's going on as it happens. Why don't you check that often and then make threads for your suggestions about them?

Why do people hate advance melee so bad? It makes the game more dbz like. I mean, in the show, you dont see them just hitting each other back in fourth then flying back at each other. they actually get in these fast up-close fights where they dodge each other and ****.

It's really not that we hate advanced melee that much. We just liked the basic melee and we want it back the way it was with advanced melee still the way it was.

ESF 1.2 would pwn ALOT MORE if the OLD simple melee was in place of the new simple melee. Keep the advanced melee system for those who enjoy doing the combos, but have the old melee system as the alternate for those who liked the old system better than the new simple system. That way everyone could be happy? I mean, thats a big goal for the suggestions forum-- is to have something that everyone can agree on or be happy with. I'd gladly pick ESF back up if we were able to play in the old version of simple melee and not the newer one.

The only thing thats different about the simple melee from 1.1 to 1.2 is the hits are limited to two, and the knockback speed is slower.
If the hits werent limited, you could go non-stop because of the slow knockback speed. If that were increased, people would complain about how ridiculous it is.
I thik its fine how it is. I dont see too many people complaining about it.

In the dbz shows most of the combos were the same animations over and over again. Sometimes you would see a combo that resulted in a big hit but mostly just the same animations over and over. When they changed the animations it was mostly during the teleport wars of big hits and beams.

Now onto adv melee. People say its easy to avoid and randoms blow chunks....thats true. The easy to avoid part is not that bad since fights should take more than 5 seconds. The problem with adv melee is that its too slow. We shouldn't be sitting there floating in mid air doing nothing while we wait for combo inputs. One way to do this is redesign the prepunch stage. Prepunches shouldn't do any damage or very little damage. Give it a constant punching/kicking animation while BOTH parties input commands at the same time. They get a certain amount of time to input their combo commands then we begin the blocking/dodging input. Now where this gets interesting is that during the blocking/dodging stage both parties are swinging and blocking in the same round. NO MORE TURN BASED MELEE! Now what happens is this...The first 1/5 of the combo bar is shown before the attack animations begin. The parties then input block commands and then the combos fly off. This keeps the block inputs ahead of the actual combos being done.

Going on with this new way of doing things is to have certain combos taking place like basic kick/punch animations and the arrows be like special hits with in these combo's. This is what you actually see during dbz...the same combos just they'll cut in a special sequence to the fighting. Have both parties puching kicking and inputing special arrows that appear for a slip second on the oppenents screen before landing. If the team took this approach for adv melee then we wouldn't have a problem with the speed of things

Also change simple melee back to 1.1 and allow the old combos and teleporting back. Cause in reality DBZ was all about the big hit tele then big hit.

There the whole problem is solved for everyone...o and I don't use adv. melee as its slow, mind numbling boring, and leaves you open to attack afterwards. I play on a server to fight everyone on the server not have separate 1v1s...its more fun that way.

Peace,
Jinks
