can i put my picture in avatar?

I guess this goes in Help section... Do you need to reach a post milestone to have a custom avatar? Because i can't figure out how to add one. Thanks.

I just whipped these up in photoshop, I like them myself and have decided to use them. But I was wondering what you think of them, are they good or bad? What am i doing wrong? Does it look fine the way it is? Ya know, the usual.

When i go to upload i new avatar it brings up a error messanger saying that was a n error uploading the file. So for right know im stuck with that junky avatar :\
