    European parlement election, what will you vote?

    Because currently every country has the right to veto every decision, basically meaning that any somewhat important decision needs all countries to agree. This in turn leads to the EP deciding tons of unimportant stuff that can be handled nationally instead. I wouldn't mind getting rid vetos...

    European parlement election, what will you vote?

    I'm somewhat undecided, probably liberals though. I'm all for more efficient decision making (getting rid of vetos etc) and less protectionism (as in spending 40% of the European budget on sponsoring farmers).

    LCD ghosting D:

    I had a similar problem, seems to have fixed itself somehow. I'd double check the cabling (try to use DVI if you can) and refresh rates/resolutions before throwing your monitor away.

    Barack Obama on Science

    Actually, in science, the truthfulness of a theory does not depend on whether a theory is called a law.. For example, Moore's law is just an observation of computing power over the past years, Fits' law is a gross simplification of human pointing behavior, Hooke's law is a gross simplification...

    @fortnox With constraints I don't mean a totalitarian oppressive regime, I meant some ground rules to make your society function (don't steal, kill, etc) and some punishment for those who don't follow them. Although they take away some freedom such rules will move a group forward, a group will...

    But it'll make them smart, not having arms will make them "submissive, pacified and un-intelligent". Just playing the devil's advocate there, I'm perfectly fine with Iran not having nuclear arms. Although taking the devil's advocate game a bit further I could of course claim that the US is the...

    Belgium joins axis of evil

    It's not about banning fireworks, just about drawing a line between harmless fireworks people can toy with and dangerous explosives we don't want people to toy with. And in the Netherlands that line is set lower than in Germany and Belgium, which leads to people buying heavier stuff abroad...

    GTA IV :: Released today!

    That's a pretty outdated argument. Xbox 360 programming is just DirectX programming + some toolkits as far as I know. I'd say consoles used to run faster mainly because of the lower resolution and refresh rate of TV screens (and still most console games run in 720p, half the number of pixels of...

    Reason to why not porting to source?

    Basically we're not interested in redoing the same stuff in source. It'd be a ton of work and very boring to do. As for not porting models/maps, I don't think any of us would be satisfied with running a hl2 mod with hl1 quality maps and models.

    Favorite Subject?

    Computer science was fun once we got pas the typing stuff in WP5.1 level and it basically became a programming class. History was for the first few years, but the later years were all about writing lengthy essays so I opted for laziness and did business economics and general economics instead...
