Yet Another Steam Problem

This is starting to get old.When I try to log on to steam it says that its updating then it will stay like that for a while(Like 3 mins).Then it says-

Unable to connect to Steam network.Offline mode is unavailable because the "Exit and Logout" option was used when you last exited Steam(I didnt exit and logout though...)
My friend is getting the very same message and I want to know if this is a local problem.If it isnt...Im going to snap...

yeah steams down today for fixes it will be up soon i hope goto the steam forums they have more info ova there

Well steam is up for me, try again. If it still wont work then make sure that you still have internet access.

Steam is down for me and a bunch of my friends. Meh hopes it bes up in time for teh patch.
