Hey, everyone. I thought I'd start a thread for all you University students to post in regarding yours, and the amount to which it sucks.

GMU, my University, sucks because they've turned off all the cable service and Internet in the dorms until every last person updates against the 'blaster worm.' After every person in the dorm fills out this little form, with a confirmation code gained after installation of Norton Antivirus, and scan, they reactivate that dorm.

And of course, they had to do this as the weekend started.

I had my computer updated the day the patches were released, and I happen to live in the biggest dorm, with about 400 people. So, you can imagine there's always going to be at least one ******* who "hasn't gotten around to it."

So, that's why my University sucks ass.

How about yours?

Same here man. I moved back into school (UNH) and they disabled the interent , but not cable for everyone until they scaned for the blaster worm. Although, once the scan was done all i had to was reregister on the network and I was in business.

I got out of work after a 23 hour day of patching every PC in the building and at 4 other branch locations for the Nachi worm on wed. So I can see why the university's are playing it safe.

Nope, I'm pretty happy with my university - no complaints whatsoever. Never had any problem like that since all internet connections are through some auto-config script (not a firewall) and all viruses are stopped through it.

And as for the connection: 100 Mbit LAN connection, max upload speed 2 Mb/s, max download speed 4 Mb/s - a friend of mine has reached 5'ish but dunno how.

But overall - looking at every aspect of my university, 3 words: "I love it!". =]

My university isn't all that great. But it isn't that bad either. I think they just lack a little in the techinical department.

Although we all get nice laptops to carrying around, the internet and it's speeds are still something to be desired.

My university RoXXors in every way possible. I one day hope to teach here so that I never have to leave. The staff have much more fun than the students do.

I had a lot of complaints about my university too, when I was a student. The truth is, though, I'd kill to be in my early 20's again, and back at university. I'm currently thinking about going back there to do my Masters.

Same here, only im just goinna get a GED to leave the social life
and join the Marines. Im tired of this crap. Why the hell do you
need a stupid peace of paper if your going out there to get yourself
killed. I dont understand this. You dont need math to predict when
is the right time to pull the trigger or not.

You dont need to talk to the enemy or read him a book... all I
want to do is take the easy way out of life.

I love mine! The only ****ty part is the *** firewall restrictions that don't let me do anything, even lan games don't work  like... wtf?! Well, that and I also just spent $648.51 on books and that's for my fall term only, I havn't even bought my winter term books yet, yipes!

But the atmosphere is amazing, the people are nice, and the people on my floor are the greatest group ever, everyone gets along and we all respect each other.
