Was YOutube going backrupt from its bandwidth costs or something?
Either way, YouTube would still be sued.I think they got a billion dollars out of it... Which is pretty absurd. Anyway, youtube would be in the same place it was before it was bought, minding it's own business and not getting sued.
I don't see what the big deal is. The videos they do have are bad audio / graphics quality.
And on a more interesting note:Currently staffed by 67 employees, the company was named TIME magazine's "Invention of the Year" for 2006. In October 2006, Google, Inc., announced that it had reached a deal to acquire the company for $1.65 billion USD in Google's stock. The deal closed on 13 November 2006.
On October 9, 2006, it was announced that the company will be purchased by Google for US$1.65 billion in stock. The purchase agreement between Google and YouTube came after YouTube presented three agreements with media companies in an attempt to escape the threat of copyright-infringement lawsuits. YouTube will continue to operate independently, and the company's 67 employees and its co-founders will continue working within the company. The deal to acquire YouTube closed on November 13. It is Google's biggest purchase to date.
Well, YouTube became a very popular place once word spread about it. Google probably figured that they could make money off of it's success prior to the purchase. Either that or it's their plot to rid the world of Yahoo.I don't understand why google bought Youtube. They're going to lose a ton of money on lawsuites I would think
That too. Don't forget about EA Games.Because of Google's own Google video. Youtube is perceived as competition, and what do you do with competition? You buy it.
At least, that's what Google, and Midway do.
