What is the best ever Metal band?

although most of these bands are very good, i choose none. You make a poll on what your opinion which metal band is the best , there is no best its whatever floats your boat. Include bodom, x-japan and arch enemy and that'll make things intresting =)

If there was a soundtrack for Hell. Slayer would be the one making it. Slayer is so hardcore. They are awesome.

My favorite Megadeth song is a tie between Hook in Mouth and Holy Wars, the Punishment Due. Though I like Into the Lungs of Hell.

if u like unforgiven II you will LOVE the unforgiven (1) I like unforgiven 1, it is my fav song by metallica, but i dont like number 2, mainly because it is very similar and i think it was silly to make a number 2 of a really great song. Nirvana wern't even "technically" a metal band. I'm going to go for other because I don't like the bands in the list and vote for Gorgoroth.

Nirvana is actually considered "Grunge" along with a few others (Like Pearl Jam). I don't see why you felt the need to add them to the list, but whatever jingles your bells...

I would say Metallica as well. They are a great band with guys who are just too good at their instruments. Anyone who has seen these guys effortlessly solo while they sing knows what I mean.

Of course you have to give the originals the props for starting the whole thing. Sabbath, Megadeth, Maiden, they're all great bands on a gigantic scale.

yes yes yes... nirvana arent metal.... spoken like true metal fans, but beleive it or not there are people out there who like nirvana, and there are even more who DO in fact consider nirvana metal (the sad, sad people that they are...) This has been around for a while and the results are pretty much as i expected mtallica is the most popular.... im a little sad that noone has given tribute to poor ol' ozzy!

Ozzy's terrible voice annoys the hell out of me. As for Nirvana, they are a good band with good songs. They just aren't metal is all.

i havent realy heard much from the other bands, so i put metallica, cause they r0x0rz!
metallica was wot got me into metal music so many years ago, their music influenced me to play guitar, so now i 0wn on guitar with my bc-rich warlock!, and their S&M cd is ****in epic. it is the ultimate fusion of true metal and the classical elements that gave birth to the metal genre.
