Changing the sound effects when the character is underwater would make game much more realistic.

Effects are more watery ever since we started using the new system. (that also means they are louder, since you can hear better under water because of the way sound travels though substances)

Well thing is. Sound isnt really distorted under water. You just hear stuff you are not used to hearing thats why you think its distorted. But those sounds are not present in the game by default. There is only what you can hear, and so you only get a slightly higher volume on that.

It might travel faster through water, but our ears work with air vibrations I believe :-? Since water applies more pressure against our ear drum, we can't interpret the sounds properly.
I haven't researched this, it's just what I think happens. However, here is a link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Underwater_acoustics#Underwater_hearing

I think underwater the sound should sound more thumpy and less noisy actually.
