Well even though this is a month old topic. Let me re-enlighten acouple of things.
  • There are no restrictions for attacks in the FFA mode of the tournament
  • Players' health resets when they are next in line.
  • Players joining late will be able to fight in FFA, but will not participate in the tournament, due to not being on the list of opponents.
That is all. I wasn't expecting this topic to be brought back from the dead like this. :S I should stop posting links to suggestions that have already been suggested by people. :laff:

yea that sounds good.. but players health should reset the instant they enter the tournament ring, so they dont have to worry about those last few life draining hits. now we can let this thread rot in peace ;)

Since this thread has been revived, and I have been informed that this isn't a bad thing (I think.) I modified the first post with some additions to the tournament, like Server/Client-Side CVARS, and modifications to the awards.

NOTE: All modifications are italized.

I reckon you should win 2^(n-1) points for win, where n is number of wins.

For example, Vegeta wins the first round (n = 1). He gets 1 point.
He wins the second (n = 2). He gets 2.
And the third. He gets 4.
And the fourth. He gets 8.
And so on.

That idea is quite handy :D, but then if he constantly wins 1st in it, he'll have an extremely high score from every one else. That could work alittle better if that equation was modified alittle for each place. Example:
  • Well the way I was thinking couldn't really work, since 1st place would get into the thousands O_O before the 5th round. So I decided to try multiplication instead of powers:
    • 1st would get 3*n
    • 2nd would get 2*n
    • 3rd would get 1*n
Then while in deathmatch, the score would be 1 point per kill. Like it's always been

If I get enough agrees for this idea, I'll add it to the list of awards in the first post.

Now with Kung-Fu action!

what if you could do illegal moves but you might get disqalified (depends on how big the illegal move was) and you get a ranking which stays to your name

Ooooh, ranking, I like ranking ;D. Or instead of ranking, reputation ;). It won't be permanent reputation that passes on from server-to-server, but more like local reputation, for each game session (From the time you joined the game, to the time you leave the game). But to prevent people from exploiting this would be like, the server would keep track of the users that leave temporarily. That way if someone wanted to reset their reputation by rejoining the server, it would remain, since you joined within that time period. Now your probably asking yourself how would you add to someone's reputation:
  1. By right-clicking their name, in the scoreboard obviously, since it's the only place where you can get the mouse by clicking the left mouse button while the scoreboard is open, and select reputation. (I have no idea if this would work.), and select a # from ˉ10-10 (ˉ10 meaning bad, and 10 meaning great)
  2. During the match, or while waiting, you press a key, and a menu comes up with the #'s as selections:
    1. ˉ10-ˉ5
      1. 1=ˉ10~6=ˉ5
    2. ˉ4-0
      1. 1=ˉ4~5=0
    3. 1-5
      1. 1=1~5=5
    4. 6-10
      1. 1=6~5=10
  3. If someone does a bad move, like trys to fire a large attack during a warmup session, his reputation will get 1 point deducted from their reputation points.
  4. Now this is something that might require a lot of coding but, when both players say gg, good game, gf, good fight, or whatever. Both players will recieve +1 reputation for being good sport, and the complete opposite if one of them says, bf, bad fight, ghey, ***, you suck, etc, etc. If a player says this a second time, it will have no effect, to prevent abusing.
  5. Any other ways of getting reputation will gladly be appreciated.

A Tournament? wouldn't that be the same as Earth League except that it's a mod or something? Also, If people fought each other and went to the Tournament wouldn't they have the health lowered? Unless there is a way to put the health back to normal on the console or something.

And this will be a gamemode for ESF, it could help Earth League in managing tournaments, because then there would be a gamemode that has the rules and will enforce those rules.

hmm how bout having that part of the tournament as a fun thing? like a random "Law" for the round and if u break this "Law" you suffer a Disqualification? like the round starts... DING DING DING... Law: No Melee! so then u would use only beams... u could have laws like No Melee, No Beams, No Throwing, No Powering up, No Teleporting, Basic Melee only, No Transforming, etc.

Yah. That also could work too. But I kinda like that reputation idea better. :) I might add it to my first post. :D
